I booked this hotel at the last minute and on arrival was pleasantly surprised (although given the tariff i wasn't expecting a terrible hotel). However, the first problem to note is the issue of car parking. The hotel would seem to have to none and so you have to park about a 5 minute walk away in a multi-story car park or in the car park for the railway. (i guess it's what to expect with a hotel in the city centre - but it's worth noting in advance).
No staff were attending the desk on arrival and the other staff based in other areas of the hotel simply didn't care. However, after a short wait someone eventually turned up.
The room was clean and i have no complaints about it at all.
However, the 'restaurant' is effectively a few tables around the bar. The staff were mostly foreign (students probably) and the feeling i got on arriving and enquiring as to whether there was a table was one of contempt. We were forced to stand about for several minutes waiting on the member of staff finishing what she was doing first (the one behind the bar couldn't help us for some unknown reason) and then proceeded to clean the table as slowly as possible. The menu itself wasn't terrible - arguably overpriced and unimaginative.
Breakfast was average too - the fruit was all tinned - which was extremely disappointing given the apparent quality of the hotel. No skimmed or semi-skimmed milk either.
All in all, it was average - although i would suggest opting to eat elsewhere as manner we were greeted with in the 'restaurant' was less than friendly.
