Plenty of parking.
Arrived to late for dinner but staff conjured a plate of sandwiches within minutes.
Stayed in the recently built annexe. Excellent, spacious, contemporary room with a ‘wet room’ type shower that gave gallons of water.
The staff are great, not patronising - just friendly people.
Bar choice is limited for drinks.
Breakfast, in the huge modern conservatory, well presented and lots of choice.

We spent two nights at the Lochardil House hotel. It is in a perfect location for visiting Loch Ness and other places in NE Scotland as long as you have a car. It is outside of Inverness city centre.
The hotel itself has character as it is quite old, but well maintained.
Our room (10) was fairly small compared to some other hotels, but was clean. The bathroom had been recently renovated and was clean and bright with a great shower. The only negative about the bathroom was the lack of shelf space. It was large enough to have some shelves or a cupboard on which to place your toiletries/washbag, but all it had was a narrow glass shelf too small to put anything on, or the end of the bath where your things get wet while you are in the shower.
The bed was rather too soft for our liking and had old fashioned sheets and blankets which slid off during the night.
We appeared to be the only guests in the hotel on our second morning as there seemed to be just one table set for breakfast! There was not much of a selection - just juice and cereal. We even had to ask for a bowl to put the cereal in! Hot food was cooked to order but the beans tasted reheated. Toast was provided but no jams on the first day.

Like everyone else, it seems, I rate the Lochardil Hotel very highly. On my recent stay everything was faultless, it is undoubtedly the best hotel in Inverness (indeed north of Scotland perhaps), if you have a car. It is a little hard to find, so be sure to get full directions before arriving. From out of town, take the southern ring road right to the farthest exit , signposted Holm (ie BEYOND the Lochardil exit) and keep going.

We recently spent two nights in room 24, a junior suite on the ground floor of the Hotel’s Garden Wing, which was opened in 2006. The bedroom and bathroom were large, clean and excellently appointed. Tea- and coffee-making facilities and an iron and ironing board were provided, but, surprisingly, bathrobes were not. A patio door gave direct access to a small paved area, with a table and two chairs, overlooking the beautiful garden.

Some might consider the public areas of the main hotel (once a Victorian mansion) to be a bit gloomy, but the modern conservatory restaurant is excellent and also overlooks the garden. The breakfasts were okay, but the one dinner we had was a disappointment and not good value for money. The ingredients were poor, and the cooking and presentation lacked any flair.

All the staff we encountered were most helpful and friendly, and we would not hesitate to stay at the Lochardil House Hotel again. We would, however, certainly dine elsewhere.
