I stayed at the Kingsmills from May 2nd through May 6th, and I completely enjoyed the experience. Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and I felt very welcomed by the entire staff.
Because the hotel was in a great location, it was a fairly easy walk to the Tesco for supplies and to downtown Inverness for sightseeing and dining. The room itself was huge and lovely (#113). Off the room's foyer which housed a wardrobe and chest of drawers was the bathroom, then french doors leading to a beautiful room with a king size bed and a massive bay window. The bay window consisted of three smaller windows which I left open each night and slept like a baby. I felt like a princess in my beautiful room. It was just the right mixture of modern amenities and charming old style details.
I read many complaints here about the hotel restaurant's evening offerings, but I enjoyed the food I ordered. My favorite dishes were the venison appetizer (it melted in my mouth) and the duck breast with plum sauce. I have never been a big fan of duck before, but I ordered it on a whim. I enjoyed it so much that I had it a second time from room service. I did think the club sandwich I ordered from room service was just OK, however, and whoever made it fogot the tomato. Other than that, I thought the food was very good. I ate supper in the restaurant or from room service each day of my stay.
I look forward to returning to the Kingsmills Hotel again!

Stayed here a few times and the rates are great (normally you can stay here cheaper than the budget hotel chains and you get a full breakfast). Rooms are lovely, hugh and are very clean. Breakfast fills you up for the day, wasnt that impressed with evening meal as service was slow and overpriced. Nice public area where you can relax with a drink, onsite car park, Beauty salon isnt up to much, staff a little unprofessional and you can see other people getting treatments through curtains, not good when you are lying naked and people can see in???????
Pool is adequate although could be doing with being updated.
Cant complain with room or check in staff. Overall enjoted my stays here and wouls return.

“No Complaints”

Kingsmills Hotel

13 Apr 2008

I stayed at the Kingsmill for 3 nights earlier this week as I was on business in the area.
For personal travel I always reference possible hotel options against the posted Tripadvisor ratings before making a booking but on this occasion my hotel choice was limited to a shortlist provided by my company as they had pre-agreed preferential rates.
This hotel was formerly part of the Marriott chain so I was expecting reasonably high standards and I wasn't disappointed.

My room, (room 8 on the first floor) was large, clean and contained all the facilities I expected - (cable TV, safe, Internet access point, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer) and looked out over a quiet car park.
Free regional newspapers were also left outside your room each morning which was a nice touch.

I have read a number of other reviews but I ate breakfast 3 times, 2 meals in the main restaurant and 1 in the bar area and all the food I had was excellent - fresh ingredients, well cooked and presented. The prices were also what I would expect to pay in a 4 star hotel restaurant....i.e. £9.00 for a really excellent and filling fish and chips.

I didn't have a chance to check out any of the sports facilities but they were on offer and included within the room price.

All staff I met were friendly and efficient and it was clear to see they worked hard to maintain the hotel standards and keep the guests happy.

If I had to be critical I'd comment that some of the general areas of the hotel are a little passed their best in terms of design and wear and tear and a couple of the towels I had in my room, although all very clean, were reaching the end of their life as they were getting thin and somewhat ragged.

Overall though I have no complaints and would be happy to stay their again, although probably out of season like this time when it's nice and quiet.

An absolute gem of a hotel! Huge spaceous rooms (if a little bit of a hike from the reception) with wonderful views.Clean hotel (though the maid was a little keen on trying to clean our room at 8.30 on a sat morning lol). Turned up for breakfast on the last day when they should be closing and we offered a seat withput any complaints (only time we ate at the restaurant was breakfast time)

One thing needing work though - the conceriege did not know the local area. We were needing directions to another hotel and he didnt even know how to pronounce it. I reckon some reading wouldn't go amis.

Will definately book this hotel again :)

“Great Hotel”

Kingsmills Hotel

Family stayed at the hotel to celebrate a "Special" birthday. There were 6 adults and 4 kids in our party and we all had a fab time. The pool was great for the kids (perfect size & depth) so they could swim without having to watch them constantly.
Ate in the restaurant one night - great food, although no chicken on the menu! Kids meals were great value. Breakfast was fantastic, there was something for everyone from fruit to porridge and the whole traditional breakfast.
Rooms were very spacious and clean.
Would definitely stay here again and recommend to others.
