We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour of gardens of the Highlands, so we had no choice in choosing it. It turned out to be well located, right on the river across from Inverness Castle and only a couple of minutes from the town centre on the other bank.

Our twin room was at the rear of the hotel, quite big and airy and overlooking a small laneway. We thought it would be nice and quiet, but it turned out that a number of the lorries delivering to the Tesco during the early hours used the lane as a shortcut, and we must have been near the hotel's bins, as the refuse lorries also seemed to stop under our window.

We had to be in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner at a set time - the hotel caters for lots of tour parties and that's how they cope with the numbers. The food was very good, lots of choice of both hot and cold at the breakfast buffet, and there were 4 choices for each course at dinner, so no complaints there.

We used the swimming pool twice. I found it a bit too warm, though my friend (not a usual swimmer) loved it. The changing room was a rather cramped, and did the pool receptionist have to throw a bucket of disinfectant along the corridor to the pool when I was walking there?? But it was nice to be able to have a refreshing dip after a hard day's sightseeing.

One other thing: on arrival we were only given one key for the room. I asked for a second one and was told this wasn't possible "on health and safety grounds". That's a new one to me!!

We stayed here for two nights on a weekend break deal with dinner included one night.

The Hotel is well located within 2/3 minutes walk of the centre / shops.

The Hotel appears to be well staffed (in terms of numbers), all of whom we found very pleasant and helpful.

The room was large & very clean. We stayed in room to the rear of the Hotel so missed out on the views over the River Ness to the front. I was not very happy with the door lock on the room - i did not feel it was very secure & would not recommend leaving valuables in the room.

The pool is a good size, as is the gym which was well equipped. There is also a sauna / steam room within the spa.

Breakfast was excellent - good choice & quality.

Dinner - we had a very poor experience, but note previous positive comments on here so will put it down to 'Chefs night off' - we received a full refund for dinner & our complaint was handled well.

As previous reviewers note, drinks in the Hotel bar are very expensive. There are several bars / restaurants nearby as alternatives to this.

The Hotel appears to cater well for coach parties - there was a party of over 50 people during our stay for whom they laid on evening entertainment (singer / keyboard).

Overall, not a bad Hotel with decent spa. I would stay here again but venture out for dinner.

We booked with this hotel directly, for a party of 50 people. We had stayed previously at the hotel some years ago before it became a Best Western and it was pretty good then. The hotel is situated very well for the city centre and looks out directly over the river. The staff were very good and couldn't be more helpful. When we arrived the hotel was very busy and there was a conference on. We were offered coffee and tea and sandwiches on arrival. The hotel is an old building to the front with a newer extension and offers leisure facilities. There is also a nice wee Starbucks at the reception.

Our room was to the front of the hotel and was spacious and nicely decorated but a bit cold perhaps because of the lack of double glazing. But we did not receive a single complaint from any one of our group so the rooms all must have been fine. In the evening our meal was excellent. We were entertained by a disco which was okay. The breakfast was a buffet and was very good. Staff had requested that we all go to breakfast at the same time! but we explained that this would not be possible. The other thing is that they sat all of our party together at huge big tables which is not always preferable at breakfast time. So if you book as part of a large party, make sure you tell them exactly what you want.

However, on the whole we had a good stay at this hotel and I would definately recommend it if you want to stay in the area.

We were looking for somewhere for some rest and relaxation without having to pay and arm and a leg and found this hotel hard to beat on location (right next to the river and 2 minutes from the shops and restaurants but nice and quiet) excellent service, comfort or value for money. It is an old hotel with bags of character but modern, bright and spotlessly clean. All the staff were both friendly and professional and seemed to have a pride in the hotel which is rare from chain hotels. Pool and spa a real bonus. We stayed in the old part rather than the newer annex at the back - big rooms but warm and well furnished. The Italian right next door is excellent. We got the best deal from contacting the hotel direct. All in all great value for money from this hotel.

Brilliant location in Inverness - right by the river with lots of bars and restaurants nearby and a view of the courthouse which looks like a Castle!
The hotel was great - lovely room and bathroom, great service from the staff and one of the best breakfasts we'd had at a hotel!
Would definitely stay here again.
