We stayed here for 3 nights as part of a tour of gardens of the Highlands, so we had no choice in choosing it. It turned out to be well located, right on the river across from Inverness Castle and only a couple of minutes from the town centre on the other bank.
Our twin room was at the rear of the hotel, quite big and airy and overlooking a small laneway. We thought it would be nice and quiet, but it turned out that a number of the lorries delivering to the Tesco during the early hours used the lane as a shortcut, and we must have been near the hotel's bins, as the refuse lorries also seemed to stop under our window.
We had to be in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner at a set time - the hotel caters for lots of tour parties and that's how they cope with the numbers. The food was very good, lots of choice of both hot and cold at the breakfast buffet, and there were 4 choices for each course at dinner, so no complaints there.
We used the swimming pool twice. I found it a bit too warm, though my friend (not a usual swimmer) loved it. The changing room was a rather cramped, and did the pool receptionist have to throw a bucket of disinfectant along the corridor to the pool when I was walking there?? But it was nice to be able to have a refreshing dip after a hard day's sightseeing.
One other thing: on arrival we were only given one key for the room. I asked for a second one and was told this wasn't possible "on health and safety grounds". That's a new one to me!!
