We stayed at the Steadings in late August. The views were absolutely breathtaking, with the hills covered in multiple shades of wild heather and sheep and cattle grazing throughout. The wildlife is also abundant. As we checked into our room we were greeted by a red deer in the meadow. We also enjoyed watching the rompings of a stoat (wild ferret like animal) in the back yard while we ate our breakfast.

David and Mary, the hosts of the Steadings, are truly amazing people. Their dry sense of humor may be missed on some, but their true enjoyment of meeting people and providing superior service cannot be missed. I have never stayed in a cleaner room, and the little touches David and Mary provide added an extra sense of welcoming. The food was also spectacular, with courses set to complement the entire dining experience. Finally, the wine selection was worth every penny - trust David and Mary's recommendations, they really know what they are talking about. Their after dinner port is absolutely delightful!

My wife and I just dropped in for a pot of tea while exploring the area. The people were very friendly and when we got to Inverness we thought "lets go back there for a meal ". Although only 15 minutes from Inverness the wine list looked inviting and the whisky shelf even more so ... we had to stay the night !!
The evening's creac was a delight and we talked philosophy , rude stories and family history in equal measure. A delightfull place and we shall visit again soon ... Oliver and Heather from Lincoln

I have never felt such peace whilst staying at a hotel. The scenery was fantastic, the hotel owners were so friendly, the wildlife just passed through the garden as though it was the most natural thing to do, we saw hares run across the lawn and deer down by the loch - magical! The sunsets magnificent.
The food was excellent, although a little pricey but excellent if you want a special evening meal, breakfast was great!
We took our dog and although he wasn't allowed in the restaraunt whilst food was being served he was allowed in the bar afterwards.
I would highly recommend it.

Hotel was uninspiring though…. Food good but unfortunately the exorbitant drinks prices took the edge off our stay.

“Fantastic hospitality, Fantastic Location”

The Steadings at The Grouse & Trout

Situated approx 20 mins drive from Inverness on the road to Loch Ness & Fort Augustus, The Steadings is located in beautiful, breathtaking scenery, set in the Strathnairn valley. I stayed in Flichity, a lovely room with a large very comfortable four poster bed. What sets this exclusive hotel out from others, apart from its location, is the hospitality provided by the new owners which extends to excellent cuisine using local produce. Having suffered a cancelled flight, the hotel not only provided me with a room for the night but looked after my every need down to supplying me with toothbrush and razor. Whether you're a business traveller looking for a home from home in a beautful setting or a holidaymaker looking for a hotel ideally located for the tourist activities offered by the Highlands, then you must try The Steadings. You won't be disappointed!!! Superb!!!!!!
