I first stayed at Moyness House a couple of years ago and loved it, so when my friend and I returned in January we had high expectations. We weren't disappointed. This place really is the bee's knees!
Our room (downstairs as requested, because I have difficulty with stairs) was a good size and beautifully decorated, with a pristine new bathroom (good lighting, marble tiled floor, good shower, thick white towels, decent toiletries). The beds were very comfortable, with good linens, and the room had a large flat screen TV (and a wide choice of channels) and a CD player. There was good wireless connection for my friend's laptop. We also made use of the beautiful sitting room, which is furnished with some lovely Victorian antique furniture.
The breakfasts were wonderful, with plenty to choose from, and everything very fresh and appetisingly presented. I loved the scrumptious fresh fruit salads, with so many different kinds of fruit. My friend said the traditional (and enormous!) Scottish breakfast was delicious, but my own favourite was the smoked kippers, which were heavenly. Very good (fresh) fruit juice. You give your order at breakfast, which I much prefer to some other places we stayed, where we were asked to decide what we wanted for breakfast the night before.
Location is good, just a short stroll to restaurants (5 to 10 minutes, I'd say) and shops. Inverness is a very attractive town, and we found it was an excellent place to base ourselves for having a good look round the Highlands. Some of the high points for us were Findhorn and Dornoch on the east coast, Ullapool and Plockton on the west coast, and Glen Affric (fantastic for hiking).
