“An amazing experience..!!”

Ardconnel House B&B

1 Dec 2007

We had never stayed in a B&B before but we were so impressed by the many excellent reviews, both on Trip Advisor, and in Rick Steves' Guide to Great Britain, that we booked a five night stay. We certainly weren't disappointed.
Elizabeth and John were perfect hosts. Our room was exceedingly clean and comfortable and even had a king bed. The breakfasts were out of this world - so much better than typical hotel fayre. Each morning our hosts suggested many places to visit, in and around Inverness. These ranged from whisky distilleries to ancient castles - also a fantastic boat trip down a canal to beautiful Loch Ness and Urquart Castle.
John also arranged a game of golf for me at his local golf club, which was much appreciated.
Elizabeth recommended and made dinner reservations for us at the Mustard Seed and the Redcliffe restuarants, both were excellent.
All in all a great stay in a very comfortable guesthouse.
We will certainly return.

Ardconnel House B&B

I come from Stornoway in the Western Isles and visit Inverness every year around this time for Christmas shopping.
Ardconnel House is only a few minutes walk (down steps) to all the major shops & stores.

The warmth & comfort of this B&B is way above average. The quality of the breakfasts are exceptional. I would recommend Ardconnel House to anyone, whether on business, touring in the area, or like me, just visiting the shops.

I will be back....!!

This must be the best B&B in Scotland...!! John & Elizabeth welcomed us to their home and treated us like life long friends.

The warmth and comfort at Ardconnel House has to be sampled to be fully appreciated. We had the family room which has a very comfortable king bed. Satellite TV and DVD player was also available in the comfortable guest lounge.

The breakfasts - cooked to order by John were the best we've had anywhere. Fantastic choice.

We'll be back...!!

We visited Ardconnel House last May and promised ourselves that we would return in the Autumn. We were greeted like long lost friends, what a lovely welcome. Liz had made scones and cakes for our arrival. So nice of her, but then, nothing is too much trouble for our hosts. This time, our teenage daughter came with us, so John and Liz installed us in their recently refurbished family room.We will admit to being rather on the large size, so we were delighted when shown to our room, that we had a king-size bed. Wonderful, what bliss so comfortable. We also had a flat screen TV/ DVD player in the room, which was an added bonus for our daughter. We relaxed in the very comfortable sitting room, which was great after our days out travelling and exploring around the Scottish Highlands.
We took a boat trip on Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle on one of the days, courtesy of Jacobite tours and really enjoyed the whole experience. The weather was very good for the time of year.
We dined at some different restaurants this visit, at John's recommendation.
A small family run hotel close to the guesthouse, the Redcliffe, whose food is excellent, in quality and value, friendly staff too.
Also the Mustard Seed, excellent menu, and nice location right by the riverside.
We have stayed in many guesthouses on our travels in the UK, but overall, this house is the best ,a home from home, a gem of a place. Once again we left Ardconnel House wishing our stay had been longer.

My friend and I (both Australians) based ourselves at Ardconnel House for 4 nights in the second half of October while we toured the Highlands. I had booked via the internet and we did not really know what we would find upon arrival. However it was all wonderful - very well located to the centre of Inverness, especially when not carting heavy luggage (for which taxi recommended!); a very comfortable guest lounge with sherry to sip while chatting to other guests, reading or watching a dvd. Breakfast in the lovely breakfast room - so much to choose from that one could make it the main meal of the day! And John's special porridge should not be missed. We also had Elizabeth prepare us a packed lunch one day - it was a great idea and there was an excellent selection of food. The twin bedroom was comfortable and warm and we would both stay there again, and recommend it to our friends.
