We visited Ardconnel House last May and promised ourselves that we would return in the Autumn. We were greeted like long lost friends, what a lovely welcome. Liz had made scones and cakes for our arrival. So nice of her, but then, nothing is too much trouble for our hosts. This time, our teenage daughter came with us, so John and Liz installed us in their recently refurbished family room.We will admit to being rather on the large size, so we were delighted when shown to our room, that we had a king-size bed. Wonderful, what bliss so comfortable. We also had a flat screen TV/ DVD player in the room, which was an added bonus for our daughter. We relaxed in the very comfortable sitting room, which was great after our days out travelling and exploring around the Scottish Highlands.
We took a boat trip on Loch Ness to Urquhart Castle on one of the days, courtesy of Jacobite tours and really enjoyed the whole experience. The weather was very good for the time of year.
We dined at some different restaurants this visit, at John's recommendation.
A small family run hotel close to the guesthouse, the Redcliffe, whose food is excellent, in quality and value, friendly staff too.
Also the Mustard Seed, excellent menu, and nice location right by the riverside.
We have stayed in many guesthouses on our travels in the UK, but overall, this house is the best ,a home from home, a gem of a place. Once again we left Ardconnel House wishing our stay had been longer.
