“Just perfect”

Ardconnel House B&B

16 May 2008

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Ardconnel House was just the perfect place to stay in Inverness, and John and Elizabeth are the reason why. They are the absolutely nicest people, and go above and beyond to make your stay as comfortable and pleasant as possible. Their warmth is only matched by their knowledge. They were able to give us ideas on where to go for dinner, and gave us directions on getting out and about to see some sites.

Besides having a ton of food available for breakfast at the buffet bar, John also cooks a great tradtional Scottish breakfast - something you definitely want before venturing out for the day.

The location is superb - 5 minutes to walk just about anywhere in town - Inverness Castle, the river, or high street.

We travelled to the UK as a family, (there were 7 of us traveling together), and the first trip to Inverness for all of us, so we couldn't have asked for a better place to be our 'first impression' of the Scottish!

It sure would be nice if all hotels and B&B's were run like this!

We don't normally respond to a review awarding such high marks, but we are a little puzzled by Afleurdelis's comment that we have no wi-fi. We've had a wi-fi network installed for 3 years now, which reaches every room in our house, and it has in fact been commented favourably by other reviewers on this site in the past. It is also mentioned on our website.

Afleurdelis did not approach us or advise us that they were encountering any difficulty in connecting with our wi-fi router. We can only apologise that they appeared to come to the mistaken conclusion that we do not provide such a service.

My name is Dario, i'm an italian travel agent.
I've travelled a lot for business and pleasure across Europe, but i can assure you that i' ve never found a place to stay better than Ardconnel House.
Friendly atmosphere, comfortable and cared interiors, rich and fresh Highland's breakfast and especially John and Elizabeth - the best hosts you can find in Scotland - make you feel better than at your home.
Try the blueberries muffy cooked every day by Liz, you'll love it.
In the end, what can i say ?
ARDCONNEL HOUSE - SIMPLY THE BEST !!!

Once again in Inverness I stayed at Ardconnel House where I have stayed on a number of occations before. The guest house have a great location - near city centre and the owners really do everything possible to make your stay one to remember. The wonderful breakfast with home made bread, muffins and scones, freshly made fruit salad and the crispy bacon always makes me wanna stay much longer and I the hospitality of the place is outstanding! Thank you Liz and John! I can recommend this Guest House to everyone!

I stayed with John and Liz at Ardconnel House for a weekend and was totally spoilt by their service. The warm welcome I received and information they gave me regarding the area and the "must do's" was second to none.

The hotel itself is immaculate and full of wonderful pieces of china they have collected over the years as well as a mountain of books on Scottish history and culture.

The rooms are spotless with lovely bed linen and even my very own "teddy bear" to cuddle at night! What more could you ask for.

It is only a couple of minutes walk into the main High Street in the town but far enough away that you don't hear any noise and have a peaceful night's sleep.

I was even taken out by the owner to the Culloden Battlefield and visitor's centre and I really couldn't have been looked after better.

Breakfast is fantastic with fabulous fresh fruit salads, wonderful crispy croissants (just like some I have sampled in France) as well as the traditional Scottish Full Breakfast with some of the best Black Pudding I have ever tasted which they buy from Stornaway. There was also some lovely classical music playing in the background which just made it extra special.

If you are thinking of visiting Inverness then I would highly recommend that you stay with Liz and John here as they are two of the loveliest people you will ever meet. This is what I call real customer service!

Can't wait to go back again.

Traveling to another country for the first time can lead you to anticipate feelings of uneasyness that you may encounter the discomfort of unfamiliar territory. Staying at Ardconnel House gave a much needed sense of warmth and welcome. John and Elizabeth made the experience so delightful that you feel like you are staying with friends. They were attentive to every need, want, or question and helped in any way possible. In some cases, above and beyong what you'd expect. (Example: Upon arrival, my only means of communication to home was my laptop. John went above and beyond to try to figure out why I was having problems connecting to their network, and even offered to let me use their computer if needed. Upon our last morning there, we had slept in and missed breakfast. Elizabeth greeted us with breakfast "to go". A consideration a lot of people wouldn't bother with. It's these things that meant a lot and made the experience so much better than expected.) The house is beautiful, comfortable, and immaculately clean. The breakfasts are wonderful and filling. The greatest part was the guest living area with the comfy sofas and chairs where you could just sit back and watch movies or talk. I highly recommend Ardconnel House!!! It was well worth the long trip up the stairs! LOL
