“Fantastic base for walkers!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 July 2011

Just got back from a trip to climb Ben Nevis and we stayed at the Ben Nevis Inn. Couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. The first night we arrived quite late, but had reserved a table. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help us. The food was excellent, huge portions and very tasty, reasonably priced. The bar was better stocked than I had expected for a place of its size. The night after the food was just as good and the service still brilliant even though the place was packed.

We stayed in the bunkhous underneath. Everything you need if you're going out walking. The beds were large and comfy, linens provided, fully equiped kitchen with all facilities. Showers are nice and hot with great pressure, and everything is nice and clean. While we were out walking the next day, fresh linens were put on our beds.

Lovely place, has a real traditional ambiance, and beautiful views. And you can't beat it for location, right at the start of the path up Ben Nevis. Would definitely come again and would recommend it to anyone wanting a great place to stay.

“Great for walkers and climbers”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

If you have done the 5 to 8 hour round trip walk to the top of Ben Nevis then this place at the end of the day must seem like an oasis in a desert. It has food and drink and must be buzzing when its busy.

Although the place has atmosphere and wouldn’t look out of place on an Alpine hillside it didn’t work for us as a place just to go for dinner one evening. Their beers were pretty much limited to the usual big brands, the battered fish had been cooked in too much oil and the chips were soggy. But if you have just got off the mountain I guess you probably wouldn't notice these details and be grateful that such a place exists so close to the start of the footpath up the mountain.

“very friendly and accomodating”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

Loved the atmosphere in this lovely pub at the base of ben nevis. So lovely to see all the exhausted climbers coming in after their day climbing. I ordered the vegetable crumble but was warned by the manager that it may not be as i expected, the chef felt the quality of this batch was not upto normal standard. I was very happy to give an honest opinion on their behalf in that if I didn't like it I wouldn't have to pay. Well, I thought it was delicious and was very happy to pay the full price, really appreciated their honesty. If in area again would definitely return.
