My husband and I travel to Scotland frequently and always manage to head over to Fort William for a stay at The Grange. It makes a perfect stop after a drive through Glen Coe and then on to Skye or The Western Highlands. The rooms are charming, very comfortable and everything is there to make your stay perfect. The views are splendid and breakfast is a real treat.....don't miss the fruit compote! Joan goes out of her way to make your stay so enjoyable.

My husband and I have just returned from a bank holiday break at The Grange. What can I say? It is just fantastic! We arrived to a very warm welcome from Joan (the owner) and the offer of tea and shortbread in the lounge. We gratefully accepted and were shown to a sumptuous lounge with large comfortable couches and books lining the shelves. The tea was served on a silver tray with china crockery and homemade shortbread and cake. Just what we needed after a long drive!

We stayed in the Turret Room and fell in love with it as soon as we stepped in. The large 4 poster bed and luxurious chairs were to die for, as was the view out to Loch Linnhe from our windows. The room had every amenity we could ask for including an extremely powerful rainfall shower.

Breakfast in the morning was HUGE! We had a day of exploring planned so I had the porridge to start--served with a choice of accompaniments including cream, brown sugar, whisky and honey--definitely the best porridge I have ever had, better even than my mother's! We then went on to our 'main course' of full Scottish breakfast and toast. All served with fresh juice and tea or coffee. Needless to say, there was no lunch for us that day!

Joan is just the perfect hostess, always there when you need her but not intrusive in any way. During our stay, we also came across their Scottie dog Seamus who is very friendly and eager to be fussed over.

I absolutely adored this property and cannot give the owners high enough praise. We shall definitely be back again and I would recommend anyone travelling to Fort William to splash out a little and stay here. You will not regret it!

“Best B&B, Ever, For Us”

We booked the Grange, partly due to our own research, partly with the help of our travel agent.
What we read about Fort William was not too encouraging, but we have learned that opinions, including our own, are just that. We liked Fort William and we liked the area. The word on The Grange was very positive. We were promised we would like it.
Joan Campbell, with the help of her carpenter husband, has built an excellent B&B. It has all the amenities of any good home, as well as any B&B, without being worn out and tired.
Choices of woods, wall treatments, fabrics, furniture, bathroom fixtures, bedding--well, the list is endless. Joan has thought of it all. The Grange is the most comfortable, and inviting B&B we have seen in our many years of travel.
Food was excellent. The property was easy to find, and get to. It sits on the side of a hill near the edge of town, and has great views of the loch. Its matured landscaping gives it a real sense of privacy. Non-smoking, and very quiet .
We appreciated our stay there very much.

“Simply Charming”

The Grange

14 Jul 2007

My wife and I have stayed in many B&B’s while traveling yet we have never stayed anywhere quite as charming as the Grange. The Grange is tucked away just a short walk from the center of Ft. William activity yet it seems as if you are in the remote country side.

The moment you pull into the driveway you are surrounded by a beautiful garden which seems quite exclusive. At the same time, the Grange has a beautiful view of the loch below. Once you enter the house you are immediately impressed by warmth of the décor as well as the friendliness of the host; Joan Campbell.

Joan Campbell has thought of everything; from the spotless accommodations to the whimsical teddy bear on the bed holding our breakfast menu. The bedrooms are quite comfortable and the bathrooms are exquisite.

We stayed in the Rob Roy room. This room was very tastefully decorated and had a very nice bathroom with bathtub and separate shower. Everything about the room was designed to make us feel like special guests; even the towels were wrapped in a ribbon, and tied in a bow.

Joan not only provides an incredible meal but provides each guest with their own menu and a wide selection of choices to satisfy even the pickiest of eaters. I am a person that is accustomed to three meals a day but given the large breakfast, lunch was unnecessary.

When we left the Grange we felt like we were leaving an old friend; one we hope to see again soon.

“Highland Perfection”

We've just returned from the most wonderful short stay at the Grange. This is the first time I have ever felt the urge to give feedback.

The whole experience at the Grange is as close to perfection as you could ever experience.

The setting is wonderful, overlooking beautiful gardens which take your eye down to the loch below and the hills beyond which provide the perfect backdrop.

As you pull into the driveway from the rear the house withholds its real beauty unti you reach the front. The twin turreted frontage gives a hint to the splendour which greets you inside. The attention to detail in the furnishings and decor is truly remarkable. The public rooms are relaxing and very tastefully presented. Everything about this place simply oozes quality.

Then Joan appears. This lady is the perfect host. The warmest welcome is there for all. The attention to detail goes on. The bedrooms are delightful. The Teddy bears with their little messages, the bathrooms with their towels tied with a red ribbon and crystal glasses.

Breakfast is another treat. A wonderful choice and it is no surprise that the quality of the food and the highest level of presentation is only matched by the smiling host and the quantity on hand.

We will return to Scotland. To see again the magnificance of Glencoe and Glen Nevis, to sample the amazing Sunday lunch at Inverlochy Castle and to ride the Jacobite Steam Train from Fort William to Mallaig. What will draw us back will be to spend a little more time wrapped up in the magical experience of the Grange.

Joan is at hand to recommend remarkable eating places such as Russell's at Spean Bridge and also to help with tour planning.

We absolutely loved it!! I hope you do too.
