We stayed at the moorings for one night on the way to gairloch. It was in August this year but by skimming recent reviews I wonder if I missed something?
I found the hotel bland and average at best.
The bar was quite small and seemed that you were 'packed in', we payed cash for the drinks and found we had been charged again when we checked out.
Our room was small but met our needs. We had 'dripping noise' central heating pipes which got on your nerves when trying to go to sleep, like a loud tap dripping.
Our breakfast looked good when it arrived after a wait of over 40 minutes, we did ask on two occasions if it was coming sometime soon.
There was several young girls waiting on, it was amusing how they worked. One would take almost 10 minutes to clear half a table the others would take one item away at a time from a table, they kept taking one thing at a time and plodding to kitchen and back again, not heard of trays I think. Another would stand scanning the room but not really taking anything in. One older guy seemed to all the graft, by the time we waited for our breakfasts we did not feel like eating it. I have to say though the waitresses were smiling throughout!
The location is good but I would never stop again, way overpriced and that corporate naff feel. Staff friendly but they were left to their own devices, maybe training issues? who knows but not what you would expect from a hotel.
