“Absolutely Terrible!!!!”

This hotel was absolutely terrible.
We had to wait patiently for sometime to check in. Once we did we got told we had been allocated a twin room and not a double room (as we had requested). Even though we had selected the double room option when booking and had noted on the special requests box that we wanted a double room. They refused to change us to a double room. The staff didn't seem to care.

Then we went to our room and it was disgusting. It was tiny and had a funny smell. Also the walls were really thin and could hear every noise from the room above.

We decided we were not going to stay. So after 10 mins in the room we went to the reception desk to ask for our money back.

They wouldn't give us our money back because they did not have any managers in to deal with it. Considering how busy they were (since couldn't give us a double room) then you would think a manager should have been there.

Whilst my fiance was trying to deal with the situation I got speaking to some other guests that were trying to check in but had also been given twin rooms when they had requested double rooms. So this seems like a common problem.

This wouldn't have been so bad if the rooms were in a better state and the staff were more polite.

We ended up leaving this hotel and going to a hotel in St Andrews (it was fantastic).

“Good location, nice hotel but a few problems”

I stayed at the Ramada for 3 nights over the bank holiday. I didn't have my car with me luckily, as the car park was pretty small, but better than offering no parking at all i suppose! There were lots of bikes filling it as it was the first weekend of the biker season, so lots of shiny bikes to have a look at when I was there!

I checked in at about 8.30pm, straightforward check in. I was given a double instead of twin, but this didnt matter as I was staying on my own. Theres no single rooms, so I took a twin and had a friend for dinner as it was included in the deal I had. The beds are comfortable, and room pretty good for the price I paid. The bathroom wasnt great though, the tap on the sink just lifted off when you went to turn in it. The shower was ok, but wouldnt dream of having a bath in there! Grouting on the tiles was filthy, which is a shame, as it wouldnt take much to give it a good clean. The bottom of the bath was yellow (meant to be white!) but the toilet and sink were clean and enough space.

Rooms were very warm even though I had window open all weekend, the windows quite small and doesnt open very far. Nice flat screen TV with a few freeview channels, such as ITV2 and sky news, and pay per view movies and pay as you go internet. I wasnt too bothered about these as I wouldnt use them anyway, so would rather pay less for the room than have them incuded in the price! As for noise, yes you can hear people outside at night, but thats to be expected due to the central location. You can really hear people in the next room, even when they put a plug in the socket, have a shower ar talk. Wasnt a major problem to me, but i suppose thats luck of the draw whether you have noisy people in the next room! I was in an end room on the first floor, so was only one room to the side of me anyway

Ate in the restaurant one night and the food was nice. Service staff were very friendly, but service was extremely slow! Luckily we werent in a hurry, so was nice just to relax and have a drink, but as time was getting on we didnt bother with dessert as we'd have been there all night! Breakfast was lovely, but again, service could be slow, I had to ask twice for coffee and toast and waited 25 mins to actually get cold toast. To be fair though, this only happened one out of the three mornings and they did apologise.

The public areas are all reasonable and its in a lovely setting and fab location, right in the town centre. Main pubs and bars are 2 mins walk, as is the cinema and shops.

Overall, it wasnt the best hotel ever, but I got a really good deal on the ramada jarvis site, and for what I paid, it was more than reasonable. If I go to Perth again I would definitely consider staying there again. A good 3 star hotel that could be excellent with a small amount of effort

My son as a treat for my 50th Birthday decided to take us to this hotel , myself and husband had visited it before and always enjoyed our stay. This time we were put in an old part of hotel we had never stayed in before , the rooms were old fashioned and dreary and there was no water coming out of hot tap. The noise from the generator was unbearable and woke us up at 6am. We were right next to a christmas party with music blaring untill 1.30am. I compained to reception but was told there was nothing they could do. Complained afterwards to agent we booked through who contacted hotel who said as we dint speak to duty manager at the time there was nothing they could do for us. Always enjoyed going to this hotel a couple of times every year but after this experience I won't be back.

Room was dirty on arrival and after waiting over half an hour we were let in to not much of an improvement. This is at 4 o'clock!!
Restaurant stank of sewage, food was ok but really our appetites had gone due to the foul smell. Staff tried their best for us and when we spoke to a manager an incoherent response was all that came our way.
Ruined what was supposed to be a romantic break as we tried to spend a little time as possible in the hotel.
Perth is a lovely city but will choose hotel more carefully next time.

“Old, Dark and Grim”

Poor standard of decor, looks tired and old. Obviously in need of some decoration. Staff have about as much enthusiasm as the broken tv in our room. Dust everywhere in the lounge! Restaurant was a shambles, waitresses looked bored and spoke barely any english. Plus - awful stink of sewage or toliets in the restaurant. When commented this at reception we were told it is an ongoing problem!
