“best service in a 3 star hotel!!!!!!”

Best Western Queens Hotel

28 May 2008

My Wife and I recentlyt visited Perth for a short break with our disabled daughter, when we made the reservation we thought we would have 2 rooms together, however when we arrived, they were close ie 413,414, but alas, not together, enter the young english deputy manager Mark, this guy was amazing, we were moved to 2 rooms on the second floor near to the lift without the bat of an eyelid, he even moved our luggage and organised a taxi so my wife, daughter and I could freshen up before going to the theatre.
In the morning he was there to assist with breakfast service, how many deputy managers do that these days??

And to to cap it all off he assisted us with a forwarding reservation.
I am in awe of the hard work this young man put in, and all through out he had a smile, a genuine smile on his face, not just for us but for the rest of the gusets. Bravo to you at symphony hotels for employing this man, we will be back in the autumn, not only for a break, but to say hello to a remarkable young man.

“Appalling food!”

Best Western Queens Hotel

8 Apr 2008

Have just returned from a one night stay at the Queens Hotel. We booked a competitive DBB deal through the hotel website at a cost of £65 per couple. The hotel is rather dated throughout, particularly the ensuites; however, when it comes to the food things go horribly wrong! When we sat down, we were two of only five people eating at the time and our misgivings were further increased when presented with a menu consisting of two sheets of A4 paper, roughly typed and stapled together.
The inclusion of an 'all-day-breakfast' option on a three star hotel dinner menu confirmed our worst fears. We were not disappointed - the food which arrived was inedible! We duly returned the full plates to the duty manager who made profuse apologies, it appeared not for the first time! She offered for us to have our wine free of charge and we swiftly retired to our room for a much needed bag of crisps!
Do not eat at this hotel if you can possibly avoid it.

We booked a DBB stay at this hotel and the only good thing about the hotel was the evening meals and 5% of the staff. The majority of the staff had no personality and acted like robots. Our room was not ready at 1630 yet you can apparently check in from 1500hrs. The room was small dull and dingy, really dated which made it look quite dirty but I did not hang around to inspect it. The suite had very little what I would call LUXURY about it. Bathrobes/slippers and a flat screen tv. The bathroom was of better quality than the previous room we had been offered ( a double room on the 4th floor) although that would not have been hard. From the suite the view across Perth was nice. This room had 3 large windows so it was brighter but the furniture is certainly dated and the carpet wants throwing out and a new one fitted as the current carpet looks like it was never fited properly ever! My only good advice was if you ever visit Perth and come from the train or bus station pop in and have a meal just close your eyes and think you are eating it somewhere else and dont expect real customer service. Lockers in the lesuire area dont work and the staff were particularly unfriendly/unhelpful. Think twice if you decide to book this hotel and look for more up to date reviews before shelling out hard earned cash for a stay here. I need a break after 2 nights at this hotel. Would probably have had more fun staying in my garage and swimming in the puddles

I'm normally pretty easy to please, but this place was pretty dumpy. The room was very small and cramped, and stuffed with tacky old furniture. The bed was lumpy. Bathroom was okay.

It's an old hotel, and it shows. Definitely run down.

If you need a place to crash, it's okay... but the Queens Hotel is not a destination place. I would not stay there again, and would not recommend it. Try to find some place else!
