This is a lovely, charmingly old-fashioned hotel situated on the banks of the River Tay in the Scottish city of Perth.
We have stayed there nearly every year (sometimes twice a year) from 2002, with the exception of 2006, when we have visited nearby Perth. Our last visit was in May 2007 and we plan to visit again in 2008.
The rooms we have stayed in have been very comfortable. They were all comfortable and have bathrooms adjoining them. They also have facilities such as trouserpress, phone, TV, clothes-hangers and tea/ coffee making facilities.
The hotel itself is in a lovely position, just a short walk from the local Town Centre, parks, musuem and other amenities.
The staff are always friendly and very helpful.
Breakfast is taken in the dining room, where you have a choice of a Full Scottish breakfast or pancakes, kippers, cereal, porridge or fresh fruit, with tea or coffee and toast.
The bar is open from 11am and there is a conservatory overlooking the Tay, where you can take morning coffee or afternoon tea.
We usually go into town for lunch, but if we have a evening meal in the hotel, we usually have a High Tea. These are again served in the dining room. They give you tea/ coffee and toast, followed by your main meal (whatever you order), followed by a tray, with meragnues and scones.
The only thing I didn't like last time was because of the smoking ban in Scotland, the hotel does not permit smoking in the bedrooms any more.
Apart from that, it's well worth a visit!
