Traveling in the highlands, my wife and I decided that we would look for lodging in Pitlochry, with no idea what we would find. We took a quick drive through town and decided that Atholl Villa looked interesting. We found they had a room at a reasonable price, so we took it for the night. Our host told us that we were just in time to watch the local pipe band parade through town (they came right to the next corner.) We then found out they were part of a local highlands music, song and dance show, so we decided to watch that (just down the road from the guest house.) It turned out to be the last show of their 40th anniversary season, so it was quite a highlight for us. Our room was just fine and the breakfast the next morning in the sunroom was excellent. We also visited the nearby Edradour distillery, Scotland's smallest, for a sampling and tour. All-in-all, Pitlochry- including Atholl Villa- turned out to be a real treat.
