My friend and I were looking for somewhere to stay that promised an early breakfast (7.15-7.30am) as we were hill walking and needed to be away early every morning of our three night stay.
We were given assureances that this would be "No trouble at all" by email. First morning was fine but the next morning as we tried to get to the dining room the owner said that breakfast would not be served until 8am. After metioning the emails he said he remembered them but he was not willing to pay to someone to come in early on a weekend.
We eventually did get a breakfast around 7.50am and the following day nearer 8.15am. Not served with very much grace.
We would have stayed somewhere else to avoid the grief.
Room was very average and could have done with a bathroom refit. Young guy on arrival very helpful indeed but others in the dining room were not.
Handy for the town centre but would not go out my way to stay here again. Big sign outside saying that the room rate was £26.50 but we were charged £34 which was a bit odd.

When ever I or my family go to Scotland either on business or pleasure we have found the Acarsaid Hotel the best place to stay. The host are gracious . The family like the freindly atmosphere of the staff and the helpful information on what is going on and things to do. The food is excellant both for breakfast and for dinner. If you are going to Scotland for golf there are 50 courses within and hour drive of the hotel. The staff will accomdate an early breakfast if you have a early tt-time to get to. The family just enjoy everything about the hotel, although randked only 3 stars in our opinion it should be randked higher. We recommend the hotel to asll who are going to Scotland to tour the highlands as the place to stay for its location and the helpfulness of the staff, from directions to out of the way places to visit. We have always found the hotel to be clean and the rooms nicely decorated, This is a plus and a stop you have to make. Andrew Ritchie, Fort Worth Texas USA

“Really enjoyed the Acarsaid Hotel”

Hotel Acarsaid

3 Jul 2007

We arrived in Pitlochry on Thursday 28 June in the late afternoon. We had not arranged anywhere to stay and happened to see that rooms were available in the Acarsaid Hotel as we drove past. The manager was extremely pleasant and we were given a room at the front of the hotel. This was a spacious room with a spotlessly clean bathroom and we were very impressed. The hotel had a lovely lounge, with a small bar and was very comfortable. All the staff we encountered were extremely pleasant and helpful.

After a good nights sleep in one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have experienced, we had the most delicious breakfast. My partner went for fresh fruit, followed by kippers (perfect according to him) and I had the full grill, which included yummy sausage, bacon, black pud, haggis, beans, mushrooms and eggs however you liked them. We were offered more toast and coffee and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. We have had many breakfasts in B & Bs and hotels and we found this one to be one of the best so far.

We were so impressed with everything about the Acarsaid Hotel that we asked the manageress to add us to her mailing list for their Xmas and New Year breaks. We will definitely return to this lovely hotel. Pitlochry itself is one of my favourite places, with lots to see and do and plenty of good places to eat. We had a great Indian meal at the restaurant on the other side of the road heading into Pitlochry.

What had been a last minute visit turned out to be a great little break. Well done the Acarsaid - can't wait to return.

we did not have much choice as all our usual hotels or b&b's were fully booked. We decided on this one as it was nearer the town and next to everywhere we wanted to go. Extremely disappointed in the decor could do with a good paint and cleaning. Our "ensuite" was terrible, shower needs to be cleaned as does window also shower head not very good. Our room door looked as though someone had tried to break into it at one time as did the room next door, not very nice we stayed in the Lodge which I found quite intimidating due to no staff being anywhere and no cameras yet front door left unlocked and windows left open. Horrible smell of cooking although could not see a kitchen. Even in the main hotel it was dead, nothing exciting thought the place was empty, dinner menu had no prices which I dislike. Breakfast was okay although eggs were definately undercooked (fried) all staff appeared to be from the Eastern Block which is truly sad I think especially when they do not understand what is being asked of them. Would give this one a miss next time in fact would not stay even if it was the only one with free rooms.

reception manager - assumed to be the owner by his attitude seemed to have a chip immeaditley, mean while the toilets were had to be shared with both sexes, ladies were out of action, girls were not happy!!. staff would rather talk to each other than serve customers "we have got other things to do you know" was the reply when questioning the wait, breakfast of leather bacon, rubber sausages, wooden eggs and tinned mushrooms with more unhappy looking staff , noisey main road location meant little sleep - in all - not recommended there is much better for the money in my opinion - but the three legged dog seemed friendly
