Good car park and friendly hello on arrivial. Dinner was very nice. On return to the hotel (Room 1) went to bed and had heart failure as the ceiling lit up with an illumination of the solar system (glow paint).

Had no knoweldge of the additional themed extra and on visting to reception no shock at all. They advised no other rooms and that the glow would glow would disapate over the next 10 mins - other returning guests have specifically asked for the room. Approached by the owner next morning in the dining room in front of fellow guests as to issue and advised that his wife painted it as it would be nice.

This additional extra spoiled what would have been an otherwise good experience. Would suggest if you book to confirm that no hidden themes!

Hotel was okay and lodge where I stayed seemed to be newly decorated. However, the single room I was allocated was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Thank goodness it was just for one night. The hotel was not fully booked and perhaps the staff could have taken this into account and allocated a bigger room. Also, the toilet made the most horrendous noises and must have disturbed others on the same floor as it was so loud. Very nice breakfast though - homemade jams a very nice touch!!

I had booked a single room, and later changed my date of stay, but when I arrived, my booking had not been changed as requested (which had been confirmed by the hotel). But no fear, I was given a double room for the price of a single room, so I was happy. The room was a nice size and pleasant with the sun streaming in, tho that did make it a bit hot. I didnt find the decor too fantastic, very old country style, but I wasn't in my room much to worry about it. There was a large selection of items for breakfast and they let me have breakfast early before the restaurant opened when I had to catch an early bus when I checked out. I thought the room price was excellent with breakfast included. The service was fine, tho there only seemed to be the one Polish girl working each time I was there, didn't see any other staff! I would recommend it as a nice wee place to stay in a nice wee town.

We booked this at the last minute and I was thrilled when I saw the other reviews, but sadly the hotel didn't live up to expectations.

Our Room was No 16 and it hadn't been decorated since the 70s with a garish green carpet and a ghastly blue bath. Moreover it hadn't been cleaned properly and there were crisps on the floor, under the bed and a stain in the coffee cup. There was no shower in the room, and we had to use one down the corridor which was rustic and had carpet on the floor so fairly unhygenic for sharing. The floorboards were very squeaky and there was little sound proofing between the rooms.

On the up side the staff are very friendly and the breakfast is pretty good. Its billed as a three star hotel and we paid a three star price for it, but in reality the room we stayed in was two star standard.
