Just returned from a 3 night stay at this hotel. Here is my diary of events.
Day 1. Check in ok, room ok and on the ground floor facing gardens. Bathroom was in poor condition.
Went for drink before evening meal, everything ok so far.
10 guests in dining room and 4 staff. Ordered meal and 2 glasses of water. 10 minutes before water and soup arrives, the soup container was 4 or 5 yards from our table but everything was done in slow motion. Main meal arrives some time later.
Meal was ok. Went to bed about 10.30pm as we had had a long journey, but unfortunately the noise from the room above was driving us mad, no it wasn`t a party just guests doing normal things like walking, showering ,opening drawers etc. We could here everything they were doing the floors and ceilings were so thin. After about an hour they settled down to sleep and so did we.
Day 2. Awoken at 6am by the guests above doing their ablutions.
Breakfast ok but slow.
In the evening went for a drink in the bar before dinner, ordered one brandy and dry ginger and a bottle of cider. The brandy was put in a large tumbler so I asked if they could put it in a brandy glass as they had done on the previous night, was told they only had one brandy glass and it was out already, they had run out of dry ginger and cider but would see if they had some in the other bar. Horray! we got our drinks. Now to the dining room for our evening meal, tonight there are 18 guests and 5 staff. We ordered 2 glasses of water and two soups to start, one meal from the menu of the day and one meal from the a la carte. We were told there would be a 30 minute delay for the a la carte menu. That seemed ok. We waited and waited but didn`t recieve either the water or the soup, finally after 20 minutes we asked if there was a problem with water and soup this was brought about 5 minutes later. and a further wait for our main meal. Meal was ok.
Then off to bed later whilst we listened to the evening entertainment from above for an hour.
Day 3. Awoken again by the guests from above at 6am.
Breakfast ok but slow.
Went to the bar and gave the same order as on the previous nights` horray! theyve got the brandy glass back, but have no dry ginger or cider. Lemonade all round for us.
Went in to dinner, only 6 in the dining room and 2 staff, we are out to cause confusion tonight when we both order from the a la carte menu. water arrives in a few minutes and soup about 6 minutes, this is great. After 45 minutes a waitress came over to say our main meal would be about 5-7 minutes, but left the dirty soup bowls on the table. A few minutes later another waitress came to say the meal would be another 5 minutes and cleared the soup bowls. Finally the meal arrives, had we ordered something exotic, no just steak and chips.
Off to bed for the hour with our upstairs neighbours before going to sleep.
Our last morning and revellie is 5.45am from upstairs today, thank god we are leaving, we can`t keep this pace up much longer.
To sum up our visit, food ok but don`t expect fast food here.
rooms ok, but don`t stay on the ground floor. If you drink brandy take your own glass, on second thoughts take your drinks as well.

“Enjoyable Holiday Experience”

Fisher's Hotel

Enjoyable stay in a nice hotel with excellent meal service (both evening and breakfast), with freshly made food and plenty for everyone. The staff were excellent and very friendly and had time to stop and chat with you. The Housekeeper's were always friendly and I stopped once or twice to exchange pleasantries. The single room had a comfy bed, and clean towels with the window overlooking the high-street in the village and fantastic views of the hills. The drinks were rather expensive, but then you are on your holidays and have to treat yourself now and then, with the bar staff being very warm and welcoming. We did not get to meet the chef's who served the meals both morning and evening, but we did leave a tip for the staff at the hotel reception.

Spent a weekend break here. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Found it to be excellent value for money. Food was excellent, room clean, fluffy towels, nice clean bedding, decent shower, everything as you'd expect. Live entertainment provided in adjoining lounge.

No complaints with this hotel. They are obviously busy refurbishing the hotel - the corridors to the bedrooms still to be done but all this takes time and money.

Just as described by easy breaks - will definitely go back.

“Treated like second rate customers not good”

Fisher's Hotel

Well what can I say.
Rooms. Well they were't great marks on carpet, bathroom tatty.

Food. First night our roll was that hard you could bounce it off the wall. The staff replaced it but it was the same. Food was only average. The worst was to come when the coaches came in the next night. They had four staff looking after them, the rest of us waited 15 mins for our plates to be cleared. We were treated like 2nd class citizens. One old couple were told to walk round the other way cos they weren't with a coach party. This meant them walking back up some steps when they were bad on their feet.
At breakfast we had to wait 20 minutes for a table because of the coach co's taken priority. The last night we ate out we just couldn't face the wait.
Staff. They were friendly and worked hard. The young guy in a suit on front desk needs serious customer service training. He didn't even smile and never explained were anything thing was when we checked in.He was the one also turned the old couple away.
Health and Safety issues
one day they had a conference and had the tea and coffee in the corridor, causing a nightmare for guests to get round. This should not be allowed and if H&S get wind of it you won't be allowed to do it.
Car Park
Not clearly marked you drive round looking were their car park is

As someone in the tourism industry, ditch the coach co's they pay peanuts and your eggs are in one basket. Couples pay more and should not be made to feel inferior.
Improve the quality of the food and tone down the mix of ingredients strange mix of flavours.
Improve 50 of the rooms and get these full at higher prices, with non coach party customers. Far more viable.
Conferences should not interfere with the day to day running of the hotel.

I will be complaining and hopefully Easybreaks will take you off their hotel list.

I would happily pay more for better quality, Loch Fine Hotel is on a par moneywise, but excellent food and nice rooms

We stopped here on our way to a wedding alongwith my mother and parents-in-law who are elderly. We staff were very pleasant and helpfull but our rooms were well below standard. Ours had black mould on the wall behind our bed, a very stained carpet, windows that rattled all night and furniture and bedding that had seen better days. My parents-in laws room had a slopping floor and the carpet on their floor of the building was held together with sticky tape and was so wrinkled it was an accident waiting to happen. My mothers room was also in need of tlc and her bath was dirty. We would not stay here again unless the place has some serious money spent on it.
