Came across The Moulin last year while doing a weekends rafting and clay shooting trip and what a find. The traditional inn that dates back 100s of years was such a good laugh with the locals and staff. The place has its own brewery producing 4 top notch real ales, platefuls of filling Scottish fodder and an open fire to roast your tootsies after a long days walking. Had such a good laugh we decided to return and did so 6 months later for a full week. The Moulin is in such a good location for doing day trips and so great to return to a welcoming intimate little haven. Will be returning on a yearly basis - not joking - a little gem of a place even to stop at for a passing lunch enroute up north.

Very friendly, nice food, clean & good sized rooms. Excellent little local pub. Extremely helpful with information on the local area and things to do.
Definetly a good place to go - about a 15 minute walk into Pitlochry.

“Hunterston Rotary Group Visit”

Moulin Hotel

We have just returned from a marvellous weekend at the Moulin Hotel. As the organiser of a group of 36 i have to say that we have absolutely no complaints. The service and hospitality received throughout our stay were both above average. At all times the staff could not do enough for us - and always with a smile. The food served in both the hotel restaurant and the bar was excellent, great value and of high quality. The rooms. although not large were more than adequate, fully equipped and clean. Highland hospitality at its best!! derek m andrews fairlie, largs.

My new husband and I were booked in at the Atholl Palace Hotel for 5 nights for our honeymoon. We stayed there for the first night and were so disappointed. Whilst on a day trip to the Edradour distillery, we happened to stumble across this unassuming pub and stopped for a pint of ale. We were both sitting outside in the sun and we agreed that we didn't want to go back to the palace. Out of interest we asked a member of staff if there were any vacancies and the girl behind the counter couldn't have been more helpful. She showed us a room and the menu and a price list and for almost half the price of the atholl palace, we opted to move. It turned out to be the best decision we have ever made!

Although the hotel rooms were small and the corridors are a little narrow, just remember that the building is over 300 years old. We ended up staying in 3 different rooms (out of choice, not because they made us move) and each was lovely and had it's own character. Yes, as previous reviews say, the rooms are a little small, but it's somewhere to sleep after our lovely days out. We both felt that our rooms were cosy. For a country hotel you couldn't ask for anything more.

Staff were nothing but helpful. Every single staff member was helpful and interested in us. We felt that nothing was too much for them to do for us. Polite and courteous at all times and extremely friendly.

The food. Where do I start? Every single mouthful we ate tasted divine. Nothing was reheated, kept on a hot plate or reconstituted. Always freshly cooked and bursting with flavour. Vegetables changed each day and were not frozen. Fillet steak was perfect. Breakfast was cooked fresh when you ordered it with freshly ground coffee and a good choice of cereals.

In short, our honeymoon could have been a complete disaster had we continued with our stay at the Atholl Palace. But thanks to everybody at the Moulin Inn and the beautiful scenery, our honeymoon was everything we could have wished for. We are already planning our anniversary trip here!
