Me and my girlfriend stayed here along with about 40 others for a wedding taking place at Blair Castle in December 07.

The hotel is an old place but well kept and traditionally Scottish. There is an open log and coal fire (one of several in the hotel) in reception where you can instantly warm and a bar about 20 yards from the fire, when coming in from the cold outside, its was brilliant.

The room we stayed in, I think it was 305 on the top floor, was quite cosy, it was the only one in the hotel with a small balcony. From the balcony you can see the castle and its grounds.
The bed was reasonably comfy and the shower/bath was adequate. The room had a small TV so you could watch Match Of The Day.

We stayed B&B, the breakfast were full Scottish (basically a copy off us English) or you could choose what you wanted and they would cook it for you, I went for porridge followed bacon sausage and eggs on a daily basis. There was always plenty of toast and as much tea/coffee/fresh juice as you could drink.

There isn’t much in the village of Pitlochry, so we ate at the hotel every night. The food was nice, there is quite a lot of choice on the menu though the food is quite plain. I had fish one night and steak the next, it was yummy.

The wedding was made special by the hotel staff, it was like a fairy tail wedding with having the ceremony at the castle then returning to the hotel for the wedding breakfast and dance with traditional Scottish band. All the staff went out of their way with anything that was asked for throughout the stay.

If staying up north again I would return to this place, especially as it is a pet friendly hotel. I would recommend anything thinking of doing traditional Scotland to visit here, it has everything you need.

Beautiful well maintained facility! The staff is helpful and anxious to please. With recently updated rooms we found the hotel to be a wonderful traditional Scottish Hotel.

We stayed with a group on nearly 40 persons. Response from the group was "Fantastic Experience!"

We worked withHeather one of the facility directors and found her prepared to go beyond the notm to make certain out stay was an outstanding experience for our group.

I would recommend this property to anyone looking to experience Scotland at it's best!

We just returned from a week touring Scotland. We stopped off in Blair Atholl on our route to Loch Ness.

The area is spectacular and the hotel is great. Blair Atholl is a very small villiage and this was the only hotel we saw. It was only a minute away from Blair Castle which is worth a visit.

The dining room was indeed spectacular.. stag heads on the wall and the tables all set smartly with red roses. The rooms were of a three star standard. Bed, dressing table and a chair and wardrobe. The bathroom was very dark and everything was little dated but clean and tidy.

The staff wore tartan and were very friendly. The bar was OK.... the staff were happy to let us sample the local beer before choosing one.... but the beer was a little warm. The gardens were nice to sit in and although their was a railway behind us.. we didn't hear anything as it was very quiet.

The food.......... well... The breakfast was very very nice... traditional and tasty... there was plenty and it was all hot. However.. we had a evening meal which was very slow to come and when it did was just OK. We both had Aberdeen Angus steak which was lovely, but we ordered a peppercorn sauce which I had to move because the smell made me feel ill and the chips were frozen chips and gave us indigestion.

Overall... this is a great hotel because of the price and location. It is a country hotel and isn't packed with mod cons... our main gripe was that there was no lift and I almost had an asthma attack carrying my luggage up tons of stairs with no offer of anyone to help us.

Great location, great price, great breakfast.......

Receptionist was never there, bar staff - again never there. When the bar staff did arrive to serve you - no conversation, was too busy doing something else in the hotel.
Rooms were very clean but no hand towels, I've never stayed in a 3 star hotel which did not supply hand towels in your room.
We didn't eat our evening meal in the hotel, but thoroughly enjoyed a meal in the KilllyCrankie Hotel.
Breakfast - I've had better. The cooked breakfast came with HALF a slice of black pudding.
I would not recommend this hotel.

This huge manor house is budget price but great value ... near pitlochry which is a quaint village, and near the castle of Blair Athol and distillery of the same name. The dining hall, along with the knights armour and weaponry on the walls, services delicious scottish cuisine. Rooms tiny but comfortable and clean.
