We stayed at Craigroyston self-catering Lodge in Stornoway in November, and even though it's not a month normally associated with holidays in the Outer Hebrides, we had a great time! There's plenty to do and see on Lewis - brochs, standing stones, blackhouses, and gorgeous scenery, interesting wee shops and cafes - check out The Blue Pig at Carloway!
Craigroyston Lodge is very modern and stylish, with all mod-cons and an absolutely huge TV, so if you get the odd spell of inclement weather, its great to sit in front of the fire and catch up on some old movies!
We were overwhelmed with the luxury of the Lodge - for the price, it was so much better than staying in a hotel. The furniture was very new and the whole place is spacious and tastefully decorated. There are views out over the sea to one side and a decked terrace where you can sit out in the summer on the other . It's about ten minutes walk into town, so near to shops and restaurants -if you can bear to tear yoursellf away from the Lodge!
The staff of Craigroyston Lodge and the other related properties (see their website) were very friendly, and owner Graham could not do enough for us - from coming round to show us techno-phobes how to switch on the TV, and even giving us a lift to the airport on the day of our departure!
We were planning to come back even before we had left!
