The Old Racecourse Hotel is around a mile out of the Ayr town centre, where there are lots of bars and restaurants.
My room was large and nicely furnished, with a quality duvet and pillows. The bathroom was newly fitted and looked superb, but I do prefer a bath to a shower (no bath ).
Despite the size of the bedroom, the hotel let itself down by providing the smallest cheapest portable tv possible. I could have suffered this if teletext was available, but it wasn't.
Breakfast is limited to basically a cereal (no grapefruit segments, fruit or yoghurts) and a cooked meal.
Thankfully there was a quiz on in the bar that night, which created a bit of atmosphere. Good choice of real ale and keg beer in the bar too !
Would stay again, but they should sort out the tiny tvs.

Stayed prior to a very early flight from Prestwick (v handy, 5-10mins by taxi), surprised by modern, clean decor in room and also by high quality food. Staff were very friendly and helpful, so well worth a stay if you're in the area.

Recommeded by a colleague, this hotel did not dissapoint! Great food and fantastic rooms. Will definately stay here again.
