I'd checked out some reviews of this hotel (for peace of mind really as with the weekend that was in it - Jazz Festival - we'd no choice as everywhere was booked up). The only negative review I found was by a lady from Somerset and as I saw that this was dated 2003 and the recent reviews seemed good, I was hopeful. How wrong I was.
Service was pleasant.......until we complained "Is he still whinging?". Rooms were dingy and dirty - bad student accommodation. Scruffy furniture (holes in upholstery), bedspreads and towels were stained, ensuite was grotty, phone was filthy, you could write your name in the dust on the shelving over the bed, greasy spoon type dining room (complete with hair in breakfast although to be fair the waitress was apologetic and offered a replacement but my stomach was turned way too much by this stage). And all this for €180 per room per night - robbery. We left after the first night.
The carparking facility is not worth talking about - they really shouldn't advertise it at all as it's only a small yard, no spaces as such. All cars just piled in and you leave your keys at reception in case they need to move your car.
It's in a central location but it may not be the best part of town (I'm not familiar with Cork). It's in a pretty shabby street.
I wouldn't spend another night there if you paid me.
