I stayed at the Hayfield Manor hotel with my wife, three children and mother.
I was worried about finding a venue that would be suitable for all of us, that is where my three girls could be children and my mother would be comfortable - not to mention making sure my wife and I had a pleasant time also.
I booked directly over the phone, I think it was Roisin who took my booking - she reassured me about the girls, let me know there was a two interconnecting rooms available, and arranged for a third bed to be added to one of these (a twin room). My mother was in a room next door, so we were all close together.
Some reviewers have commented that a room over the courtyard (which is lovely) is nice, but to be honest our rooms were to the front of the hotel and were very quiet. There was some noise leakage from other rooms (someone near us had a *really* bad cough), but nothing that would disturb sleep.
So complaints - well, em, none really. The place is very attentive - without being intrusive, which is a fine balancing act. The facilities in the hotel are very good - I was a little surprised that the hotel has no gym as part of the pool/spa facility they do have, a small room with just a running treadmill, rowing machine would be perfect. But this isn't a complaint really, the pool is lovely and if you do feel like a run they have a routes available. One other small complaint is that the times of local religious services are a little out of date in the hotel information book in the room.
Other than those small items, everything was perfect. Most impressive of all was they way the hotel staff looked after the very different needs of my mother and my three girls. My mother enjoyed the quietness of library room etc, while my girls were well looked after with a fair bit of understanding that they are, well, children. Each night there were cookies and milk left out in their room when we got back.
There is wireless internet available throughout, and there are two computers available on the 2nd floor, with a printer.
We ate in the less formal Perrotts Garden Bistro restaruant, and this was very, very good. Breakfast was very good also.
