WE HAVE JUST GOT BACK FROM OUR WEEKEND IN CORK. tHE HOTEL IS FANTASTIC IN EVERY WAY.It is in a city centre location about five minutes from main shopping area. The staff were so helpful and freindly and definitely went out of there way to make sure your stay was a happy one. The rooms are a nice size, the beds are very comfy and all areas were cleaned to a high standard. Breakfast was one of the best I have had there was a great choice on the menu it set you up for the day. Only downside was that the room was quite warm (all hotel rooms seem to be too hot though) we opened window but building work outside soon made us shut it again. Went to Cafe Paradiso which is a veggie restaurant opposite the hotel and wasn't dissappointed. As it was our Wedding Anniversary on the saturday we went to Jacobs On The Mall, pricey but well worth it. We will definitely be going back to Cork and will go straight back to Lancaster Lodge without a doubt.

Firstly I will say for this hotel that the rooms are lovely, well furnished and very comfortable.

The hotel is very close to the city centre and as such is Ideal for anyone who might be looking for a hotel to use as a base for a shopping orientated holiday.

As other reviewers have stated the Breakfast was of average quality, but certainly not "Award Winning".

My gripe with the hotel ruined my stay at the hotel and as a result severely doubt I will ever stay there again - that is the staff.

Some of the staff (with two exceptions which I will mention later) were very patronising and condecending from the moment we arrived to the moment we left and seemed to express no interest in their customers.

As my friend pointed out to me on our leaving it felt like the fact that we were younger that the rest of the clientelle there (we are 24/25 respectively) made the receptionist and the rest feel like they did not have to give us a warm welcome.

Two ladies working there deserve a mention for putting themselves out to help us during our stay and that is the cleaning lady on our floor who was very pleasent and helpful and also the waitress who looked after our table in the restraunt.

Perhaps the rest of the staff there could take a lesson from these two ladies.

I would, however, like to say that I stayed here on St. Patricks Day so I hope that the impression that I got of the staff was not accurate and does not represent the average staff of the hotel.

Very good experience overall- free parking but everything is within walking distance. Nice spacious rooms.
Staff were very accomodating and helpful and there is a real effort made with breakfast which is special.
All in all functional and good value for money

Booked a three-day Cork weekend at the Lancaster Lodge Hotel.

-The hotel is centrally located within a 10 minute walk to Patrick's street, the main shopping area, or city centre, of Cork.
-The breakfast that was included in our room rate was of good quality and cooked to order. You can have it delivered to your room for 3 Euro extra per person.
-The rooms were fairly modern and well furnished. Included an LCD TV with basic channels on it. Overall clean and comfortable.

For the price we paid, I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Cork.

“Great Hotel - Excellent Value”

Lancaster Lodge

This was actually our second stay at Lancaster Lodge. It was so good the first time that we went back, and took the family with us.

At €113 a night, this was great value. The rooms are well furnished, comfortable and homely. The showers are powerful. The hotel is clean and modern. The staff are helpful. What more could you want?

There are a few hotels in Cork which are more centrally located. This is a 10 min walk from the English market, which wasn't much trouble even with a wheelchair on Cork's - er - idiosyncratic pavements. You know that when you book. There is currently some building work going on behind the hotel, so the view isn't up to much. If you care about that, best give Cork a miss completely.

In all honesty, I can't rave on about the "award winning breakfast". It's good - just not outstanding. And the staff seemed unable to cope with the Sunday morning rush, though they tried hard and were pleasant enough.

I've read complaints here that the hotel is not a "cosy Irish family run place". Well, no. It's a small hotel, not a family B&B. Having had some truly terrible B&B experiences in Co. Cork, that's an advantage as far as I'm concerned. Either way, it beats the impersonal Jurys next door.

Not perfect, but very enjoyable and excellent value at the price. Next time I am in Cork, I will be happy to stay again.
