We arrived at about 3pm and our room was ready. The parking was good, nice wide spaces so you dont have to worry about getting dents from other peoples doors. Its a pity the hotel doesn't provide this parking for free. €14 is a bit steep.
We got the novelty glass elevator to the reception which is on the 3rd floor. The reception is large and well staffed, we only had to wait 5 minutes for our check in.The staff were friendly, and invited us for breakfast the next morning, for "only" 15 euro's each. Another very steep add-on.(We didnt avail, there are plenty of places in Dublin to get a good breakfast at half the price).
Our room was on the 6th floor, a little difficult to find as the signage isn't great.Maybe it's designed to make sense when you come back to the hotel after 15 pints of stout.
the room was large ,airy, the bathroom was the same, and both were very clean.
We left the hotel via the escalators this time, down to the ground floor. The ground floor has the feel of a disused shopping centre. The glass windows were dusty and there were leaves,a lot of them, blowing around in the unused reception area, taking away, for me, from the 4 stars this hotel has.We were pleased to find that the Aviva Stadium was within 10 minutes walk and visible from the road beside the hotel.
When we returned at about 10pm, I had a few pints of guinness and the wife had a few cocktails. The staff were courteous and professional. The bar area is huge and the couches are comfortable.
The bed was comfortable.
We had an early start to return home, 6.30am. The shower, as nice looking as it was, couldnt decide if it wanted to burn or freeze me. It must have been plumbed by someone taken directly from the 80's.
Overall I can take of leave this hotel, I think if you're driving and a breakfast eater, you could do better.
Hotel €99,Overnight parking €14, Breakfast €15 EACH, =€143.
Guinness : Overpriced at about €4.90 to the best of my memory , to be expected in Dublin (2 miles from the brewery).
Cocktails: €10 - could be better.
Will I stay again? Yes, if i'm going to a gig in the O2., But not for any other reason.
Keep in mind that you are beside the O2, but the hotel is so big that i'm sure you can ask for a...
