“Back again!”

Mespil Hotel

Back to the Mespil once more...Having been to The Towers (heavily overpriced) and The Clarion Liffey Valley (beautiful, but out of town) it was back to the best value hotel I've been in for a long time. Comfortable, 2.5*, maybe 3* if they redecorate. Food in the restaurant was good and they do a mean Guinness. Wireless internet (not at The Towers :( )means I can work in my room without having to rent a poxy box for my laptop.

Recommend booking with the hotel direct on the website, good rates €89 per night at the moment and breakfast, although extra, is very good.

For a good curry, try Chandni, in Ballsbridge. Ace.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, room was clean & tidy service was excellent and breakfasts were good with choice of good quality fare.
Staff were courteous and helpful no complaints. Brisk 15 - 20 minute walk to centre, check out some of the pubs on the way, traditional beer houses with live music and excellent atmosphere (the famous craik)
We enjoyed it around here better than centre
Pubs found by turning right outside hotel door 200 yards to traffic lights and head left into town.

“What a shame”

Although the hotel was every thing a hotel should be, I really did not like the attitude of the management. It seemed to me that this was the only hotel they had ever managed. The silly niggly policies they had were laughable, I mean laughable to other hotel management.
Give your heads a shake guys you have a nice hotel there,10min walk to town, right on the canal, nice restaurant and bar. It obviously starts at the top, shame.

A modern hotel set in the business district, about 15 mins walk Stephen's Green. Room was clean, shower was excellent. Breakfast was very good indeed.
At £40 per night this was extraordinarily good value.

Have recently returned from a 4 night stay at this hotel. Overall it was extremely good. Reception and all waiting/cleaning staff charming. The hotel is well placed for a gentle 15-20 minute walk into the centre and is situtated in a pleasant area away from the hordes. Beware, there are substantial building works both opposite (although there is the canal and 2 roads separating) and immediately on one side of the hotel - perhaps therefore avoid rooms in the new(ish) wing as these are only a matter of yards away.

Breakfast is an excellent hot and cold buffet and if you can get this into your room price it will be a very good deal. Very decent food served in the bar during the evening at most reasonable prices.

Rooms are a good size by European standards and are in good condition.

Would certainly stay again.
