Looking at previous reviews, I'd say this hotel has undergone a change of management as well as its name (formerly the Parliament Hotel). The bar and restaurant were both closed for refurbishment and it looks as though some serious work is being undertaken there.
It's central for Dublin and Temple Bar. As this is one of the most famous (?infamous) drinking areas in the world - expect some noise, or better still, just join in!
The rooms were OK - probably approaching the time for a re-furbishment, but perfectly clean and well appointed.
On the basis of previous reviews, I was going to skip breakfast there, but I'm glad I didn't. The food was well prepared, hot and plentiful, with everything from fruit, cereal and cold cuts, to the 'full Irish'. The service was attentive and polite - coffee cups were constantly topped up and fresh toast on tap.
I think we paid over the odds as it was a bank holiday weekend and there was a big concert in town, but I'd guess that it would normally be good value for money. I'd go back!

“Not bad”

Arlington Hotel Temple Bar

21 Apr 2008

Beware. The hotel has been sold off and the sign removed from overhead the front door. It has been replaced by some bill boards at the side wall, and is now called the Arlington Temple Bar. For those on a meal/room deal the resturant is closed temporarily so it means a 10 walk to OConnell St to the main hotel for your meal. The best thing about the breakfast is the tea is hot, the staff indifferent and have to be prompted to make your tea/coffee and toast at breakfast time, in between texting and drinking their own tea! The breakfast meal is indescibably awful and when I was there the burners had extinguised and the food cold. The continental selection of fruit/cheese if fine (hint). Rooms are good but for those of you with street frontage good luck - its so noisy outside, with drunks and sirens on-going throughout the night, good luck in sleeping. For the summer months, with no air-conditioning, they have small fans in the room, but with the windows open..the noise will be awsome.

Great location. easily a 20 minute walk to anywhere you need to go. i would highly recommend and will be back. the only thing i would recommend is to skip the breakfast not worth it. several other places to eat breakfast at. did not eat in dining room due renovations. Overall great place central to any historical site

“mixed feelings”

Arlington Hotel Temple Bar

Great location, comfortable and clean....thats about all of the positives i can think of. some, if not most of the staff were rude, not very helpful for Dublin first timers when asking simple questions. although room was at the back, was still very noisy, bar and restaurant were closed for refurbishment which was disappointing as we had no idea of this prior to arriving and would have liked to have been able to use these facilities, and would have been nice to have been given some notification of this. if the breakfast is not included in your room price, as ours wasnt, is expensive for what it is. although have written several negatives here, was good overall for somewhere to stay with easy access to the main attractions of the city, and good that there is a bus stop on the other side of the road for the city tours. undecided as to whether would stay there again or not, parts say yes, but there are also plenty that say no

I booked after reading the reviews and despite the references to noise, there was a sense that this was a decent place.

I am happy to report that I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay. It was a wonderful value. Although there is a lot of street noise and I was second floor facing the street, it never kept me awake. The bed was amazingly comfortable, the room clean and spacious.

The restaurant was also a pleasant surprise. I returned to it on Saturday night when I discovered that everything else in Temple Bar was packed and I was hungry. The entrées were delicious. There's planety of places to choose from in the immediate area, but the hotel restaurant is first rate and not a second best.

I can see however that in the summer, with the window open at night to keep the room cool, you'd be needing earplugs, but visiting Dublin in April is a great idea.
