I stayed at this hotel for eight nights in May 2012. As so many other reviewers have pointed out, this hotel is in a great location for touring Dublin and the region. The Airlink 747 bus coming from the airport stops right across Cathal Brugha Street from the hotel, as also does the Dublin Bus green HOHO bus tour. If you will be relying on bus transportation throughout the city, all major Dublin Bus routes stop on O'Connell Street, within one or two blocks of this hotel. Furthermore, Busaras and Connnolly station are an easy four or five block walk for regional bus and rail travel, respectively. Most of the major sights in Dublin are on the other side of the Liffey from here, but that is only about a 10 to 15 minute walk away. Also, just across O'Connnell Street is the Henry Street pedestrian shopping area, with Marks and Spencer, Debenhams, Boots, Tesco, and any other shop you could possibly need. (Plus, the prices on this side of the Liffey are lower than on Grafton Street!) The hotel staff at the front desk were very welcoming and incredibly helpful with directions and tips on where to eat and what to see. Even the Polish maids were very friendly and always said good morning. My room was updated and clean, and the bed was quite comfortable for me. The bathroom was really nice, but I would have liked a little more power from the wimpy showerhead. Free wifi was great, although the signal was bit weak at times, but this is typical for any large hotel. A single caveat, however: There is a club right next door to this hotel called "The Living Room" which draws a rough looking crowd of young men wearing cheap track suits and women wearing tight skirts and six inch heels. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the noise from this place was horrible. And I was on the sixth floor on the opposite side of the hotel from the club! The place is open until 3:00 a.m., so the noise basically lasted all night: very loud music, lots of cheering and shouting, lots of horns honking. Beware if you have trouble sleeping due to noise. Also, the area to the north and east of this hotel is a little dodgy, so keep your wits about you if you go out at night. Finally, I booked this hotel through Expedia, but for the time period I booked, the hotel website showed all rooms were unavailable. Therefore, if you check the Best Western website and it shows all rooms sold out, check Expedia or another tour aggregator. You will probably find rooms available.
Higher floor, away from "The Living Room" is better.
