“Happy with the Hilton”

Hilton Dublin

Lovely hotel in leafy location. Room a good size as was bathroom with ample toiletries. Our room overlooked the canal and was definately the best view. Staff were extremely pleasant especially Lisa who greeted us as we entered the breakfast room. Breakfast was delicious with a good choice/variety to include grilled items, toast, cereal and fresh fruit plus pastries. The location of the hotel is excellent as the Luas (tram) stops right outside the hotel and it is 2 stops to St Stephens Green (centre of Dublin) . A single journey is 1.50 (Euro) and an all day pass 4.80 (Euro). If flying in, take the airport bus to St Stephens Green and jump off the coach and onto the tram which drops you outside of the hotel - hardly any walking at all. There is no air conditioning at the moment in this Hilton so we were very grateful for the fan that is on the desk, however we were told that the hotel is being refurbished in September and air conditioning is on the list..and finally, if arriving early or checking out late, the hotel provide safe storage of your luggage.

“Adequate Room, location can be noisy, walkable from town centre”

The room was a fairly average type chain hotel room - decent size, clean, comfy bed and complimentary water! The staff were ok, checkin/out was quick and efficient. The buffet breakfast was pretty standard fair but delicious none the less.

The location was about a 20 minute walk to the city center. It is definitely worth being able to walk back to your hotel in Dublin because taxis are almost impossible to get late at night.

The major down side was the noise - there is a small canal in front of the hotel and then a fairly busy road. Also - there was a pub just down the road, which was VERY NOISEY on Saturday night until at least 4am. I guess that's the down side of the smoking ban - everyone is out on the streets. I like to sleep with the window open for fresh air so it was rather loud.

All in all, adequate hotel - nothing special - but if chain hotels are your thing then perfectly acceptable.

When we checked in as we were Gold card holders we were immediately upgraded and also were the guest of the day which meant we were treated to a free drink in the bar. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

The breakfasts were wonderful, the only downside were the toasters, they were not man enough for the constant use.

The rooms were lovely and clean with free water and fruit, and a free bottle of wine.

The location was a good walk from the centre but was an
enjoyable one.

Before I write anything about the hotel, I want to share on piece of key information about Dublin. Don't drive in the city, no matter what! Nothing is marked, nothing makes sense and you can spend hours driving in circles trying to find something 1 mile away. It took us two hours of frustration and stress to find the hotel once we got to the city. In regard to the hotel, the service was excellent, the rooms were decent, but ordinary. The hotel is a 20 minute walk from city center which probably explains why it is cheaper than most. The next time we go we would probably stay in another hotel, but there was nothing wrong with the Hilton Dublin.

Have just returned from 5 nights at the Hilton in Dublin. Found it to
be a very comfortable stay, with very friendly and efficent staff. OUr room was a decent size and very clean and smart. Breakfasts were exhaustive (delicious porridge!). Location very convenient for city, given proximity to the luas tram (30 seconds out of hotel door) - nice to be away from the bustle of the city, and a short walk south of the hotel takes you through some beautiful residential streets. Good value for money given high prices of hotel accommodation in Dublin.
