My partner and I decided to eat in Druids Lane on Friday night. At 9pm we walked in to an empty restaurant, not a good sign but we always happy to give anywhere a chance. The starters we had were mussels and the chicken wings. The chicken wings were ok, just ok though and the mussels were bland and tasteless. For mains we had the meatballs and coq au vin, both were again bland. The meatballs lacked any flavour and were stupidly small. The coq au vin wasn't much better. The sauce was ok but the chicken was tough and chewy and spoiled the meal. We decided to have dessert to hopefully end on a high, but it wasn't to be, the sticky toffee pudding didn't have any sauce, just a dry slice of roasting hot pudding. The bread and butter pudding was no better.
One positive was the service, our waitress was polite and we could have no complaints with her. The lady behind the counter, who I assume to be the owner, was loud and shouting everywhere about pictures on a laptop, her language was quite colourful considering where she was.
We will not be returning to Druid's Lane unfortunately. It's sad to see such a nice place serving way below par food. Considering its location I’m surprised anyone goes there at all.
