My husband and I stayed at the Ashville House in Killarney for two nights on our recent trip to Ireland. The B&B was perfect. The owner Declan was very friendly and accommodating. He gave us some great tips on a spot for live entertainment and some restaurant ideas. Our room was a bit on the snug side, but other then that extremely clean and modern. Everything in the room, including the bathroom, looked newly remodeled. The location was ideal; only 3 minutes walk to the heart of downtown Killarney. The hotel was also directly on the road leading around the Ring of Kerry. There were many delicious choices for breakfast in the morning. No other word to describe our stay at Ashville House but "perfect."

Two friends and I stayed at Asheville Guesthouse on June 20-21, 2007. The location was great as it was quite easy to walk to the town center. The innkeepers were quite friendly and professional. The rooms were perfect for one person and everything in the place was well kept and clean.

Overall, the b&b was better than Killarney itself, which was overrun with Americans doing the "shamrock" thing. If you are using Killarney as a starting point for touring the Ring of Kerry, you'd be better off going to Kenmare or beyond. Killarney is nothing more than several blocks of sweater shops, tacky souveniers, not great restaurants, and Americanized hotels.

If you must stay at Killarney, try the Asheville House as it was inexpensive, convenient and very very clean. Breakfast was good - you get a choice of several menu items which is nice.

Our first trip to Ireland was made perfect by our stay at the Asheville House. The innkeepers were friendly and the breakfast was superb. Short walk to city centre. With so many B&B's to choose from,
you would be a sucker not to choose this one. This place is fantastic.

We stayed here on 6/20,21. Saw a deal on their website and reserved it. Room was just okay - a little on the small side. Free parking, short walk to town, and fresh fruit in the morning made it ideal. I was a little annoyed at the host, Declan, at checkout. He charged me in US dollars without asking me at a high exchange rate. When I asked to be charged in euros, he insisted the rate was the current one used by the banks. When I did the math, the rate was very high so I asked to please void and redo in Euro's. He did so right away. Make sure you are charged in Euro's!! Otherwise, a good experience. There are many B&B's on this block. Maybe some have bigger rooms.
