Railway Hostel is a 3-minute walk from the bus station, located right next to a lovely church, and a 5-minute walk to the city centre.
We spent three nights there, and we could not rave enough about the staff. They were incredibly accommodating, and I am sorry I have forgotten their names, as they were wonderful. They helped us in our tour bookings, as you were able to book everything right there, and they also helped us make our reservations for our next hostel, which proved to be a little more complicated than we had expected. Even though we went back to the staff several times with questions, they were always extremely friendly and polite.
The room we got (a 10-bed dorm named Oyster), felt like a chalet. The bunk beds were wooden and cosy. The showers were push button, but the water temperature was perfect, which was a first on our travels in Ireland (it's usually scorching, or too cold).
Kitchen was big, but there is NO oven, only gas burners and a microwave. Just plan ahead and do not buy food that need to go in the oven. We met really friendly people over there, and the hostel is reall comfortable and not overly crowded. You feel at ease wandering around the TV room or just chatting with your fellow backpackers.
For 5 Euros, your laundry is also washed, dried and folded. I'm telling, this is the place to stay at in Killarney. Don't hesitate to book Railway.
