“Best B & B in Killarney”

Robeen House

20 Apr 2008

We stayed four nights at the Robeen house and we loved it. The beds were SUPER comfortable, best shower we had in Ireland, and the room were spacious and exceptionally clean. We were a family of four - our 16 and 17 year old sons were with us and we had a family room. TV in the room and free wi-fi. This was the only place in Ireland that we stayed at that had wi fi internet connection and we loved being able to send pictures of our adventures home the very same day. Food was great as was Bernice. She is a lively, animated, woman who really gave us a wonderful feel of the area and Ireland in general. When we go back will be be staying at the Robeen House. We chose this B&B as it was not in town but close enough for our teen to go on an adventure of their own. Bernice gave us great ideas on where to go and things to see. You can not go wrong choosing this B&B

Bernice is so warm, welcoming and wonderful. She makes you feel like you are someone who is very important to her and that she has always known. The rooms are spotless, roomy, power showers, and breakfast is delicious. I love my visit and when I come back to Killarney, I will be staying with Bernice at Robeen House again. Thank you Bernice for making my trip so enjoyable. You have a heart as big as Texas. Janet

Our family really enjoyed our recent visit to Robeen House. We were greeted by our lovely host, Bernice, who showed us to our very spacious family room, which was quite roomy for our family of 5 (one double bed, two singles, and a VERY nice folding bed brought in.) The bathroom was likewise spacious, with the best shower we enjoyed in two weeks in Ireland! I believe that the building is a purpose-built guesthouse, so the rooms were quiet and private, and we weren't as concerned with our family noise disturbing neighbors, as we were somewhat in more traditional B&Bs.

The location on Muckross Road was very convenient --only a very short walk into the town centre. Breakfast in the morning was in a nice, sunny breakfast room, adjoining the guest sitting room. The breakfast was delicious, ample, and served by a very friendly young lady. A cold breakfast buffet (cereals, fruits, yogurt, muesli) was laid out on a table (in gorgeous Nicholas Mosse pottery) and the hot breakfast was served at the table.

One of the best parts of staying at Robeen was chatting with Bernice, our hostess. She is quite warm, funny, and sincere -- and made us feel very welcome, like we had stopped at home for a visit in the middle of our vacation.

My only disappointment was the our room was charged in dollars (at a bad exchange rate and with the additional fee for dynamic currency conversion) and Bernice did not seem to know how to reverse this to charge in euro. I suppose that I might have insisted that it be voided and rerung in euro, but we had one foot out the door and three kids in the car, so it wasn't worth the hassle. I would just recommend that future guests state in advance what currency they would be charged in.

In summary, we had a lovely hostess, spacious, clean and comfortable accommodations, and an incredible breakfast. Without reservation, I would highly recommend Robeen House to future guests, including families.

This was our second time here and we loved it again! Bernice is a wonderful host who makes you feel right at home. Even if it weren't in a convenient location (which it is) we would still stay here for the beautiful rooms and the delicious breakfasts. You won't be disappointed!
