We stayed at Kingfisher for two nights in September. We had two rooms, both of which were very nicely decorated and very clean. The only negative was that they faced the street and, being on a relatively busy street, traffic starts early in the morning. But, that is expected when you stay in town. It would not deter us from returning. The location was great -- just a 5 minute walk to the heart of the town. We had two of our best meals in Killarney -- one at Mulligan's Irish Chophouse and one at Bricin (which was recommended by Donal). Very nice stay! We would definitely return.

“1st class B&B, friendliest B&B managers”

Kingfisher Lodge

2 Sep 2007

1st class B&B, location close to the center, excellent quality/price.
But most of all, 1st class hotel managers. nice and very friendly atmosphere. A group of 10 from italy with 2 rental vehicles, we booked 5 rooms for 4 nights just 2 days in advance, as we changed our original plans to make a boat trip to Skellig Islands. Along the way from Galway to Killarney, we forgot a rucksack in a pub in Adare.
No panic: the nice and friendly managers of the B&B, Ann and Donal, solved all our problems. They had been already informed by the pub of the missing rucksack on our arrival, and they managed to get it back by a courier the day after and to pick it up themselves in a nearby town at minimum cost.
The boat trip to Skellig Islands was uncertain because of the weather; again, Ann and Donal kept the contacts with a local boat owner and promptly managed to accommodate us when we had to extend our stay for the trip. They were also of great help to arrange the reservation of a flight from Kerry airport to Dublin, and to contact our car rental company to change our rental conditions.
Finally, they gave us very nice tips for some destinations off the beaten track (stone circles, sacred wells etc), which we would certainly had not seen otherwise, and for some nice pubs in Killarney with traditional music.
We never had before such a pleasant experience with a hotel/B&B manager, we really felt like being in a family and our stay was the most pleasant, nothing left to wish for.
Thanks, Ann and Donal, we greatly recommend your B&B for a stay in Killarney.

My wife and I spent 19 glorious days in Ireland in May 2007. When booking our 2 day stay in Killarney, we kept being shut out with booked up accomodations. We finally got a reply from Kingfisher that they had a room available. As it turned out, it was an exceptional find. While Kingfisher is considered a "Guest House" as opposed to a B&B and is more like a small hotel, it still managed to retain most of that "personal service" that the B&B's are famous for. Ann and Donal were great and very helpful. After spending 9 days driving the Irish road side, it was wonderful to have a bus tour of the Ring of Kerry as well as getting our laundry done. All of this was taken care of by Ann and relieved us of using our precious time . Breakfast was great and the banana pancakes were a real treat. Lastly, the location was perfect with a short walk into town and centered around all of the sites the average tourist wants to visit.

“Very Good”

Kingfisher Lodge

13 May 2007

Kingfisher Lodge is a very well presented guesthouse in a very good location for exploring all that Killarney has to offer.

Ann & Donal are helpful without being intrusive, and service both at reception and during breakfast was very efficient.

Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of choice, including pancakes with bananas which made a very welcome change for my vegetarian wife.

The room was large with everything you needed including a very powerful shower.

Situated on a main N road, traffic noise was not a problem at all. Plenty of parking is very handy also. Town is a 5 minute stroll away.

The only thing stopping me from giving Kingfisher Lodge 5 stars was the location of our room. Situated over the breakfast room, the noise carried so much that it felt like we were actually waking up in there rather than our own bedroom. Luckily we weren't on the kind of holiday that meant we could lay in, but still, it was a tad annoying.

But all in all, a lovely stay in a lovely house. It's what we wanted, and it's what we got.
