Having had trouble with our web booking agent, I went straight to the hotel and I must say that the reservation staff were most helpful. Never again will I book though an agent (Irish) I look forward to a return visit to this great hotel and city.

I stayed in the ormonde hotel in kilkenny for one nite in feb 08.... to be honest i was disappointed in what we got for the price of the hotel.. the hotel is being rennovated so had no use of the pool... the restaurant is nice but very expensive.. it is very central location but the rooms are pretty basic ,on arriving we were told that the room we booked was not available and were given a smaller room but we were not compensated for this in anyway.. had a terrible view from this also.. i would really recommend if staying in kilkenny look around for more suitable accomodation and do not spend your money on these over priced rooms

My husband and I stayed at the Ormonde hotel on 22nd Feb 08. We stayed for one night and chose the hotel as it was central and had a pool. We arrived to discover that the hotel was undergoing renovations. When we checked in we were told the pool was closed until the 20th. March 2008 and so was the bar but a temporary bar was set up in the lobby. So not a good start and so much for my longed for swim.

The room was great size and was very clean and modern. When we went to bed we couldn't sleep because of the noise of the music in the nightclub 2 floors below us. We could feel the vibrations of the bass in the room. It finally stopped at 2.30am. The next morning went for breakfast. There was a great variety to choose from. We went for the full Irish breakfast which was quite bland. Went to check out and we were told by a girl at reception that the other receptionist , who was on the phone, would deal with us then she walked away. I ended up standing there for 10 mins waiting for the receptionist to finish her call. All in all the only people who would really enjoy this hotel during the renovations are tea total insomniacs with no tastebuds.

I stayed here several years ago and found some of the staff to be quite unfriendly. Not this time though. Despite being part of a very large group, all of the staff I encountered were very helpful and friendly. In particular the bar staff were great.

This hotel is located right in the centre of Kilkenny within easy walking distance of shops, restaurants and pubs.

The hotel itself is equiped with a nice bar come restaurant, a great ballroom and a great café area with very comfortabkle seating in the lobby. The rooms are clean, spacious and adequately equipped.
