Great location on John St, very easily accessed from the Dublin Road, and within easy walking distance of the main areas of interest in the town. I imagine it could be quite noisy at the weekend as there is a night club in the hotel itself, but during our visit it was busy but comfortable. The decor is a strange mixture, the lobby of the hotel is shiney marble floors complete with stuffed tiger in a glass case, the White Oak dining room is lovely with individual handcrafted furniture, the bar area is comfortable but homely, and the rooms are perhaps a little dated, pelmets on the window, slightly worn wooden doors etc, but spotlessly clean and provided with hairdryer, iron, trouser press, tea/coffee making facilities with an impressive amount of UBT milk which we really appreciated. Throughout our stay we found the staff extremely helpful and friendly, without being overly intrusive. Dinner in the bar at night was good food, simply served, breakfast the next morning was grand: there was a rather limited range on offer, but a large tour group and just left ahead of us and we were almost the last guests down so that was understandable. Tea and toast were plentyful and arrived promptly, which is a welcome change from many of the larger hotels I have stayed in lately.
All in all we really enjoyed our stay in the Kilford arms, and will definitely return..
