I have just returned from a trip to Ireland with my sister. The entire trip was wonderful from start to finish. I especially enjoyed the time we spent in the city of Kilkenny, Kilkenny County Ireland. We stayed at the Kilkenny Inn. I would recommend staying there to anyone. The staff was polite and very helpful, even when I couldn’t figure out how to turn the lights on in our room. It turns out you have to put your room key in a box by the door. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the bathrooms were newly renovated and very modern. The city is very walkable. We arrived in the early evening and immediately headed out for dinner. It’s about a five minute walk from the Inn to the city center and local people were very helpful in giving directions and recommending locations for dinner. We ended up at Victor’s . The food was great and our waiter was charming and very friendly. The next morning we had breakfast at the hotel. This was included in our room rate. We had the full Irish breakfast which was excellent. We spent the morning touring the city. We walked to Kilkenny Castle and then to St. Canice’s. Both are must sees in the city and the view from the round tower at St. Canice’s is amazing. It’s a long walk up and not for the faint of heart but is well worth the climb. This should be a definite stop for anyone touring Ireland. We were lucky enough to be in Ireland in the fall. The foliage was breathtaking yet the fields were still a beautiful deep green.
