We enjoyed a return one night visit to the Castletroy Park, well located for visitors to the university and the nearby technological park but somewhat off centre for Limerick’s downtown or suburbs other than Castletroy. A car is essential and there is good guest parking.
The hotel's design and general style reminded us of an up-scale US motel. Ownership has changed recently and overdue refurbishment has certainly improved the public areas - much done but more to do. The lounge, bar and restaurant are all spacious and pleasant.
Our room was large, with bland decor and a pleasant garden view. It and its bathroom were adequately equipped apart from a rather wonky phone that kept signalling non-existent messages. The buffet breakfast was good.
Wi-Fi is free but fussy, as it goes through an intermediary. All the staff we met were friendly and helpful.
Limerick has more exciting hotels but the Castletroy Park continues to be a reliable and good value base for a short business trip.
