This was by far the worst dump I've ever had the misfortune of staying at. My wife and I are really truly not hard to please. We made the best of it at this place and grinned and took it as long as we could. The staff was unfriendly and unprofessional to say the least.

We tried to make it work until the 2nd night of our four night stay. We came back to the hotel after a fun night a local pub. There was a wedding party in a banquet hall below us, our room and the windows were rattling from the base. We could have lived with the noise if it were 9, 10, or even 11:00, but this was 2 am! We called the desk and demanded the police be called. The front desk REFUSED to dial the police or give us their number. We even said we had an emergency and they refused. It was a terrifying experience and we felt like hostages.

After fighting with the manager and staff they moved us to their sister hotel across town. It took every trick in the book to get moved. DO NOT STAY HERE. Limerick is a great city but this is a horrible, despicable, unsafe, unfriendly 1 star DUMP. I really question using Expedia.com due to their judgment of 3 1/2 star rating. Many of the amenities mentioned on their web page were not present. WORST HOTEL EVER.

I was at a conference at the hotel, and at breakfast that morning they ran out of food as so many were looking for breakfast at the same time! The staff said it would take 20/30 mins to replenish the stock... funny they didn't think of this when they took the room bookings! They did rectify this for the second day however.

The hotel rooms were lovely and spacous with a fitness walker. As half the hotel backs on to a busy road, make sure you ask for a room away from the road - I did and had a great night's sleep - the food in the bar very limited and it stops at 9pm.

The centra right across the road is great - it also does hot food and is much better value and range than the bar menu!

It's fine for the odd night on busines but definitely not a tourist hotel, and I personally wouldn't be in a hurry to go back

Let's start with the positives; complimentary newspapers and wireless internet access. Nice touch...but from there you are faced with a so called 4 star property where the signature bar is closed on a Friday night when Munster are playing rugby, the hotel doesn't subscribe to Setanta sports so be warned. Rooms are spacious but cheap touches such as sachet shampoo and clapped out TVs don't help. This is an ok hotel for an overnight business trip to the nearby industrial estate but not for a weekend away. The restaurant closed at 9pm, late breakfast till 11am is good but you must fight for space with the staff setting up for lunch and try a ignore the clatter of cutlery being cleaned and tossed about.

“Good Value and close to hospital”

South Court Hotel & Suites

On a recent trip to Ireland, one of our travelers got sick on the flight over from the US and had to be taken to the hospital in Limerick where he stayed for most of the trip. Thank goodness we found the South Court Hotel where we stayed for the first 3 nights and the last night before leaving.

We had a suite for 3 nights which was comfortable and had AC which was needed for the heat wave. The last night we had a room with two double beds and no AC but it had cooled off. .

The hotel is very clean, showers are great and it wasn't too noisy. Ask for a room on the non-highway side.

The bistro downstairs is pricey but decent food. Don't order the diet cokes as they cost a lot and you don't get free refills (but seems like it was like this a lot in Ireland). Also, skip the breakfast downstairs (16 euro) and grab something at the Centra grocery store next door or better yet grab a bite at Delish in the same strip but down further beside Pizza Hut - Delish has scrumptious food!!

“South Court should lose some of its stars”

South Court Hotel & Suites

Did not stay in hotel but had dinner there on Saturday 27th May 2006. Staff lacked English, could not understand requests. Asked for Salad instead of potato wedges, got potato wedges and no salad. Two others in our party had steak, both did not finish them, they said they were not sirloin steak at all but rump or some other awful cut. The problem was compounded by the meat not having been hung long enough. The result was tough and tasteless. A coffee ordered at the end of the meal never came. The dining room was not busy when we arrived and ordered, so this cannot be used as an excuse. A two star hotel maybe, certainly not a four star.
