just spent three days in this hotel not very impressed by certain things. firstly the room while large was drab decor.corridor on second floor always looked like it needed a good hoovering. staff were pleasant and welcoming on reception. the biggest drawback was the dining room. hardly any natural light. divided off the main foyer by this large curtain for want of a better word. if you were having a meal seated near this curtain and the foyer was busy while you couldnt see people you could hear them. on top of this the background music was too loud and didnt make eating in this area a good experience. upon requesting that the music be lowered i was first told to pity the staff who had to listen to it every night. the second request for lowering the music got a result. the service in the dining room was very slow and very annoying to have someone coming over and placing cutlery on your table every few minutes. tables should be properly set up in the first instance. the menu for dinner does'nt change too often. hotel is ok for one night but any longer and its very disappointing.
while this hotel is set in lovely grounds perhaps a proper dining room could be added on.
