“Not so bad, but...”

Patrick Punch's Hotel

4 Aug 2008

This was our last stay on our 8 day vacation, and 7th hotel stay. I feel that it is unfortunate to say this was one of the better hotels we stayed at.
Best - value, room size, general atmosphere.
Worst - rude desk attendant, hair and lord only knows what splattered on bed linens, restaurant.
It appeared to be an over-all clean hotel. There were plenty of furnishings in the room and it was decorated nicely. Everything worked properly. Cheapest rate we paid all week.
However, two phone calls to the hotel for directions while lost in the city were handled abruptly and inaccurately. Luckily we somehow found ourselves right in front of the hotel, which is in a rundown area. Although the room and bathroom appeared clean there were quite a few long hairs on BOTH the duvets as well as some dried matter on the blanket. EEWWW. One of the front desk women came to the room in a reasonable amount of time with clean linens and changed the bedding herself. She was pleasant and apologetic. We were one of three tables in the restaurant but service was slow and unfriendly. Regular menu item, baked french onion soup, was not available but was offered tomato soup instead. Very upset that we were charged the same price as the baked french onion. Not a fair trade off in my opinion. But as this kind of treatment seemed to be the norm throughout most of our stay in Ireland we just sucked it up and attributed it to the uniqueness of Ireland.
I don't know if I'd stay here again given the location but I wouldn't not recommend it either. If you're looking for value and just passing through this would be a good stop.

Myself and my wife stayed here for 2 nights in July. The hotel is modern, clean and well serviced. The bar is nice and lively and the gym also is more than adequate. We ate in the bar but not the restaurant and found it good. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return.

Room was great, very clean and modern. Arrived in late morning after an all night flight from the USA and the room was ready for our early check in. At check in, my husband and I both got the impression like we were bothering the front desk clerks by trying to check into our room. I don't think this had anything to do with the early check-in, it was just the attitude of the front desk clerks. So much for FRIENDLY Irish people. Otherwise, our stay was pleasant. Free parking. Free Wi-Fi. If you are looking for a city center location, a little too far from city center to walk.

Thank you for your comments about the hotel. I am dismayed to hear that you thought you were a 'bother' to the front desk team as this most certainly would not have been the case I can assure you & I apologise if you were made to feel like that.

The Irish hospitality is still very much present at Patrick Punchs Hotel & I would like to think that should you return to Ireland again & stay with us you will experience it.

Kind regards,

Amanda Cronin

Do not stay at this hotel if you want to enjoy your stay in Limerick it was a mess from start to finish was booked in for 3 nights checked out after 2 as a result of the poor quality of hygiene in the bedrooms and the rubbish food in the Hotel.
The only positive is that it has a nice health facilities but does not make up for the other down sides.

stayed here for a weekend in may on a very cheap rate and it is true what they say pay peanuts and get monkeys.
The sheets had not been changed from the previous stay, hairs all over the bathroom, marks all over the walls which is surprising for a new hotel also no air conditioning and if you opend the wondow the noise outside kept you awake,
Definitely would not recommedn the food in the hotel breakfast was a joke cremated rashers and sausages tastless rubbish no athmosphere and a poor staff attitude.
