“Fantastic experience”

Hilton Limerick

12 May 2008

Just want to react on the article “Great Hotel, Horrible Restaurant”
I stayed at hilton Limerick myself, and ate in the River Restaurant and must say, that I had very oposite experience.. Yes, few of the items on the menu were written in French, and had troubles to understand them myself, but that is why the staff and managers are there. Asked staff and manager himself for advice about menu and with pleasure answered all my questions and explained me the menu..
And by the way the starter beef on the menu is a dish called Carpaccio.. And if you have a look on the explanation of the dish it says: "Carpaccio - (ITALIAN) thin sliced raw meat."
The River Restaurant in Hilton Limerick is servig 5***** food and I can recommend it to everybody..

“Great Hotel, Horrible Restaurant”

Hilton Limerick

6 May 2008

Stayed in the Hilton for the Sunday night of the Bank holiday. The hotel was very quiet, not many people around. Stayed in an executive room and it was lovely, except the room got very hot at night. The bed was really comfy and the bathroom was lovely. We decided to eat in the River Restaurant but we booked it without looking at the menu. Bad move! Firstly we didnt understand what any of the dishes were, my boyfriend ordered beef as a starter, but it came out raw, discusting. The main course was ok, cant go too wrong with a steak. And the desert was nice too! Very very pricy though. I would recommend this hotel, but not its restaurant, go out to the city to find a nice place.

“Hot and Cold experience”

Hilton Limerick

26 Apr 2008

First of all my experience started with the sales team made an appoitment , I was 10mins ealry(I was always taught to be early). Told by a lovely receptionist ,English lady, blonde, really helpful.Told me to take a seat, I wait for 20 minutes and finally a young lady came to see me ,(asked for her name and finally after finished with her, asked receptionist her name found out it was Magaret)told me that because I was late for the appoitment (I was there 30 mins ) that she could not show me the function room I wanted to book. Gave me a brochure to look at and call her> I took my business else where. I went for a coffee and staff let me wait for nealry 15 minutes (dont know what is with this hotel for dont want to serve staff. A young lady , Rach??? I think her name was . She was not waitress as in different uniform asked me if I was ok and she got my coffee. Now that is customer service... Coffee and food I got was really nice. But some staff rude and aggorant and I feeled that they did not want my business, I went elsewhere for my function. I was staying ove night and rooms nice ,comfortable and clean. Cant fault the rooms in any way. Cleaness of other parts have to be improved .bar dirty evening, waiting a long time for drinks and refill. If it was not for the 2 staff I had met my exeperience would have worse. Nice Hotel, Good Location staff (some) need retraining/??? or new staff

We were at hilton for a short visit and decided to meet friends in the bar for 'cocktails'. What a terrible experience. We arrived at 7.30pm and asked the barman/waiter if we could see the cocktail menu, we were told that they are out of cocktail menus. When asked what cocktails they have on offer, he said he will be back. So he arrived with the 'rollerdex' which contains the cocktail recipes and handed it to us saying that we could have a look through it and then he would be able to tell us if he had the 'ingredients' to make the cocktail. We thought that a bit odd, but did not want little things to spoil our evening! Needless to say the service and 'cocktails' did a very good job of spoiling it for us. We got one round of cocktails and had to nearly 'rugby tackle' the waiter to take another order. We ordered barfood which was quite nice, but the service was a disgrace. We finally got another round of drinks ordered at 9.00pm, by 10.30pm we got Margaritha with salt added to the 'ingredients' (it tasted like sea water). When we complained we got a snappy answer from the bar person saying: 'I've been asking THEM now for two months to train us to make cocktails, but they haven't' In all honesty that is not the sort of thing a customer wants to hear... After the seawater we nearly waited another hour to just pay our bill, so that we could go home! What a disappointing evening! I certainly will not be back for more seawater!

Booked this hotel and unbooked it. I had a course one Sat and decided to book the hotel for that night. When I arrived early that morning I knew that my room would not be ready but I asked could I get a coffee and scone. I told them that I would be staying there that night. They said that the coffee deck would not be open till 10am but I could buy a full breakfast inside. I did not want a full breakfast so was disappointed. I decided to try my luck and ask the waiter inside the restaurant if I could have a coffee, he got very flustered and said that he was not allowed but he would try - after waiting 10 mins I got fed up. Realising I could not get a coffee and scone I asked could I use the internet for a minute. They said they only had €16 cards avaialble. At this stage I thought am I in Ireland -this must be a big joke. I checked my booking and saw I had up to 4pm to unbook so I did this and booked another hotel.
