We stayed in this hotel with another two couples. It was the best weekend ever !!!! The hotel is a lovely historic building set on a large green with views of the benbulben mountain range.
When we arrived we were greeted a lovely receptionist and she had great knowlege of the local area. The bedroom itself was spacious with modern decor and was really clean - something that i am choosy about!!
We ate in the Kudos bar that served Asian and Tye food and was really happy with the quality and value. The bar was busy but the atmosphere was great and the staff really helpful and friendly.
The leisure centre had a very large pool and full amenities i feel bad we didnt get time to use it, but will definately to planning a return trip.
Overall the Clarion Hotel in Sligo is one of the best hotels I have been to in quite a while. My partner and I cant wait to return.

“Great Family accommodation”

The only reason we booked this hotel is the availability of 2 bedroom apartment type units with hotel facilities. This is very common all over the US but is still a bit of a novelty in Europe.

Our 2 bed unit was superb. We had a normal hotel room connected to a one bedroom suite. So we had 2 very spacious bedrooms one seperate sitting room, 2 bathrooms and a hallway. Every room had a TV ? DVD combo which the three kids loved. The rooms are brand new, very comfortable and clean.

The hotel itself is only OK. A refurbished old building ( which used to be "the mental") refurbished to a 3 star standard - very reminiscent of the recent hotels built in every development in the country because of tax breaks. Its amazing given the setting that the hotel inside has no character what so ever. We had lunch in the hotel once which was in the bar and was an asian type meal - very nice. We didnt bother with having the hotel breakfast - it looked nice but was too expensive to try and bolt it down while juggling 3 toddlers.

The kids loved getting away - loved the swimming pool - loved the kids club (€3 per child per hour) but most of all loved the rooms.

By the way if you havent got kids - KEEP AWAY.

Stayed in clarion sligo fro 2 nights with wife and 2 kids (4yrs and 5mths), I had booked a suite via hotels.com and was given a room. I compained to staff and was given a two bedroom apartment and complimentary meal by way of apology. Very much appreciated and well handled by customer relations manager. The apartment was more suited to our needs, however, it is a long and confusing trek from the pool or bar to the apartments. The hotel and apartments are not very well laid out. Good leisure facilities and nice lunch in Kudos bar/restaurant. Booked room only so I did not sample the breakfast. My wife availed of the Cleopatra bath offer for 20 euros - good value. Free parking and easy to find, but long walk or short taxi to town centre.
The layout of the hotel and apartment block is the only major negative, otherwise pleasureable experience.

we stayed in the hotel for three nights in march. It was a terrible experience, the hotel lacks character, and the interior is depressing. The reception large with two empty fire places, a glow would add comfort to the hotel. Beds uncomfortable althought they did have a douvet. Food in the main restaurant was poor, tasteless. The bar lacking atmosphere and we were unfortunate enough to have a room above the bar and could hear the loud music, not something which helps a young baby sleep. Overall a terrible experience, and we will not return.

Stayed Good Friday 21/3/08 in the apartment section of the hotel. Check in was very very busy and the clerk had no record of our booking. We had booked a 2 bed apartment as the kids were with us and this was the least inexpensive way of staying. Clerk allocated an apartment but never got to the bottom of the problem. Apartments are connected to the hotel internally by a complicated maze of corridors and lifts..safer to drive between the two. The apartment was lovely with 2 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a sitting room but don't get carried away thinking that you can make more than tea and toast! There is a sink, toaster, microwave and fridge but really just a small corner of the living room rather than a 'kitchen' area. Decor was really contemporary and fresh. Be warned, kids under 18 yrs need to be accompanied in the pool (even ones at 17yrs!). The Bar was very grubby with food on the floor and a lingering smell but no lingering atmosphere! Good value if you're a family or group not wanting to go the extra on seperate bedrooms. You do get privacy though as the bedrooms are seperated by the living room with each having its own bathroom.
