We had promised ourselves we would try Sibson Inn Hotel on a number of occasions en route from London to East Yorkshire and the traffic being light decided it would be safe to pull off (there is no significant slip road either off or back onto the A1). Entering the hotel at 13.50 by the reception/restaurant entrance we found it both empty of staff and customers. Tables in the restaurant area to the right looked like they were in the process of being made up so we made our way into the bar and took a menu from a bar table. Not feeling particularly hungry nor enticed by anything on the menu we opted for a pot of coffee, a scone and toasted teacake. Eventually a young man who gave the distinct impression he would rather be anywhere but there brought the order to our table. The 'warm scone' as advertised on the menu was not only stale but bore no resemblance to any scone I had ever had before being flat and tough with a strange texture and very mass produced, the teacake was also stale and the jam very cheap in taste and consistency. When it came to paying the bill which at £9 seemed a lot for what had been supplied, we had to wait a considerable time before anyone came to take our money. Definitely will never go there again.
