A decent hotel with most of you what you would expect from a Holiday Inn in the UK. A rather enthuiastic receiptionist greeted us on arrival, and gave us the keys to our room, which was meant to be a double, non-smoking suite. It turned out to be a smoking twin! Quickly changed however, but be aware that the concept of a suite is really just two interconnecting rooms with the middle door open!

An OK restaurant however the food lacked a little flavour - certainly avoid the tomato and basil soup if you can help it!

Decent base for Harrogate and York, and would work out fine for business trips.

Adjacent to the International Conference Centre in a quiet part of Harrogate, this is a pleasant place to stay. The refurbished rooms are not luxurious but are in good shape. Everything worked and the bedlinen and furnishings were spotless.

Helpful reception and pleasant sitting areas/bar. Breakfast was plentiful and fine.

The car park is ample but a short walk away and includes a set of stairs from the parking to the pavement. Would be a nuisance of a walk with luggage on a wet day but it is very centrally situated in busy and bustling Harrogate.

Am staying again in a week's time and would not hesitate to do this.

“much improved since taken over by Holiday Inn”

this is not a luxury hotel but it has greatly improved since being taken over by Holiday Inn and is now good of its type. The refurbished room, bedding and bathroom were clean and the room was quiet with extensive views. the location is perfect for the adjacent conference centre. The self-service cooked breakfast was good. This was a really busy time for the hotel but staff were efficient and very cheerful.

I often stay here while working nearby. I'm a Priority Club Platinum member, so I get the free upgrades.

It's a pleasant enough hotel, with the usual HI features. Just don't expect too much and you won't be disappointed.

The showers are a bit weak and the dining room (for breakfast) is an odd walk from the lifts on the first floor. It can take some finding if you're not aware.

The parking is fine if the weather's good, but it's a 400yard outdoor walk and can be a real nuisance if it's raining (as it frequently does in Yorkshire). For a £5 price tag, it's expensive. There is a trick to getting free parking, but I'm not going to share it here as it's very limited and I'm felling selfish. But it's not hard to find if you walk around a bit . . .

The breakfast is pretty good, although the staff insist on explaining the layout to you and have a habit of instructing you to take a seat in a clump of tables lost in a big dining room. Sorry guys, but I can recognise tea and coffee without having to have it pointed out to me. The kippers can be a bit hit and miss, but the poached eggs (on request) are very good.

Overall, the staff are pretty good - the front desk has always responded quickly to any queries I've had in my 50+ nights there.

The gym is limited, but fine for a short workout after a hard day at work.

The hotel's generally good value if you can get the 3-day advance rate and I always stay here in Harrogate, mainly for the reliability of the accommodation and service.

We have just got back from a two night stay at this hotel.
Our room wasnt ready when we arrived because the previous night the hotel was full due to a health and beauty conference held in the conference centre which is virtually 100 yards away. We had to wait just under one hour for our room.
The room was clean and modern. The first night we realised the family from hell were staying above us and at 12.30am we couldnt stand the row anymore so my hubby rang reception and complained.Ten minutes later -silence! We ate in the hotel restaurant. The first night we were given a set menu to choose from and there was also a 'special' of the day. For starters my daugher and i chose melon while my husband chose the pate.Main course we chose the lamb shank with extra veg and for pudding cheesecake. All i can say is if you are ever staying in this hotel eat here because the food was excellent and moderately priced. We were surprised that the restaurant was quite empty even after being told by one of the receptionists that the hotel was two thirds full.HOWEVER the following evening we again went to the restaurant ,were sat down and told tonights meal was a carvery. It was foul. The beef was tough, frozen veg and hard chips???. The desserts were 'party food' cheesecakes and gateauxs. It was certainly not worthy of its twenty pounds a head price but after we complained our bill was wiped clean. Fair enough.Watch out for that one.

The hotel is in a great spot -just a ten minute walk from the town centre which has a good selection of shops, restaurants, a theatre and a cinema. I would definately visit the hotel again even though there were a couple of problems the staff were very good about it. One last thing there is also a charge for the car park at five pounds a night and considering the whole town has restricted parking zones you have to pay it which we thought was a little cheeky.
