“Nothing Was Too Much Trouble.”

Arden House Hotel

I have to agree with all the previous, positive reviews. Joyce and her team were incredibly welcoming but utterly unobtrusive. Our party of four students were in Harrogate to attend a conference at the HIC.

Our twin bedded room was slightly cramped with little surface space on which to perch clothes etc. However, I now realise that I should have requested Superior twin rooms to give us a little more room to spread. I suspect, however, that they would not have been available due to the excellent reviews this little hotel receives.

Location is excellent for both conference and town centre. Arden House has an incredibly peaceful, arboreal location. The lounge is small but perfectly formed. I disagree with a previous reviewer who found the breakfast room small and cramped with overly large furniture. The room is not huge , but this is a 14 bedroomed hotel, not a member of a multi-national chain! The room is sunny, and bright with comfortable, modern furniture and the breakfast choice is varied and absolutely second to none. Service is friendly, efficient, and the quality of the food is excellent. Do try the wonderful scambled egg and smoked salmon-- It's included in the price for goodness' sake!

Joyce twice made us hot drinks on our arrival back to the hotel, when we were prepared to go back to our rooms and make our own. The first time was at approximately 10.00pm on our first evening when she brought us a tray of hot chocolate ( to which we added Baileys from the honesty bar, - gorgeous!) plus afternoon tea the next day. I expected a charge for this kindness, but was pleasantly surprised when no extra cost was added to the bill.

Value for money is excellent, thank you for looking after us so well Joyce, We wish you and the team much luck in the future, though we suspect you won't need it!

An excellent B & B hotel in a very quiet area of Harrogate with local restaurants, shops and theatre no more than 10 minutes walk away.
We stayed for 2 nights (Friday & Saturday) as we were visititng Harrogate for the Spring Flower Show.
We spent Friday visiting National Trust properties - Fountains Abbey & Studley Water Gardens both most enjoyable and well worth the visit.

We arrived at Arden House later afternoon to a very hospitable welcome by Joyce and Beverley. Whilst the hotel does have parking at the rear & side as we arrived in the afternoon we were parked on Franklin Road (right outside the property). This is a zoned parking area, as much of Harrogate is, but it was no problem as Beverley issued us with a parking permit for the duration of our stay.

With restaurants a short walk away it was not necessary for us to take the car so the permit was a welcome bonus, so much so that on Saturday when we visited the Harrogate Show we decided to use the local Taxi service which was very efficient.

Our room was on the top floor, a very clean and comfortable room with plentiful amenities. The quality of furniture and fittings were excellent.

The more than ample breakfasts on both days were served by a very efficient & cheerful waitress and the choice of food on offer was very good.

The lounge was homely and comfortable with TV and Honesty Bar which was well stocked.

Whilst it was good to see the hotel full we did feel that the breakfast room felt quite cramped - The tables and chairs were of very good quality and design but maybe a little too large for the size of the room.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to our friends Arden House is definitely a place we will return to on our next visit to Harrogate.

“A place to come back to!”

Arden House Hotel

20 Apr 2008

An excellent small hotel in a quiet area of Harrogate and just minutes walking distance from the shops and International Centre.

We stayed for four nights on a short break to celebrate our wedding anniversary and booked the four poster room. Joyce and Beverley have an excellent small hotel and arranged champagne and some very good chocolates for us (it was our anniversary!) and together with their staff made our stay very enjoyable - we even managed to dodge the showers!

The ample breakfasts kept us going and although the shops and the International Centre are just minutes away we did have an enjoyable walk through the Valley Gardens and over the hill to the RHS garden at Harlow Carr.

We could not fault the accomodation nor the facilities at the Arden House. Comfortable bed, flat screen tv, a wooden box containing tea, coffee, hot chocolate, horlicks etc and lashings of hot water for the shower.

Franklin Road is a very quiet area and although we didn't take the car public transport in Harrogate is very good.

The Arden House is definitely a place to go back to.
