I've added some photos so you can have a look.

This hotel is in a reasonable location to the city centre and the Harrogate International Conference centre (both a five minute walk away). But there are closer B&Bs that are the same price for a similar or better service.

This isn't a cosy homely guest house, its a B&B. The rooms are clean (ish - the bath had some stray hairs). There is no lift.

The staff were friendly and registration was relatively simple. The hotel is on a quiet street.

The decoration in the hotel could do with some attention and is tired and dated in places. Serving breakfast until 9am at the weekend is annoying - it should be served until at least 1030am to allow for a weekend lie in.

The breakfast itself was poor. Undercooked bacon, cheap fruit juice and, worst sin of all, no beans! More items are needed on the cooked breakfast (hash browns, beans etc). Better quality juice should be offered.

The room was a good size, but I think it was certainly one the larger ones directly overlooking the (rather tired) entrance to the hotel.

Overall, its not horrible and there are some nice touches (good selection of teas and coffees in the bedrooms for example). But it could do with tidying up and some changes made to ensure a better stay.

Cash wise, its about mid range in Harrogate for similar properties, it should be looking to reduce this unless it makes improvements. I paid £70 per night including breakfast.

I booked this hotel with a certain amount of trepidation, as judging from the hotel's website the attic rooms are very small, and we were worried that the other rooms would be similarly tiny. We requested a twin room on the first floor, which we were given, and we were very surprised. Though small, the ceilings were high, and the room contained everything you would need and was spotlessly clean. The window was huge, and opened fully. The bathroom was also small, with only a shower but again, everything you would need and also perfectly clean. Breakfast in the morning was help-yourself continental (fruit juice, yoghurts, cereal) and a huge portion of English breakfast. Staff were polite if not overly chatty. The hotel was also very quiet, since it's an older building with thick walls, set back from the main roads. The only downside is parking - we were lucky enough to get a spot outside the hotel (which provides vouchers for free parking) but the street is crowded and this could be problematic.

We had a lovely 3 day break at the Grafton Hotel. The staff were attentive & friendly, bedrooms clean & comfortable, nice breakfasts cooked to order.
We would recommend this hotel to anyone, good quality & value for money.

“OK but nothing special”

Stayed 1 night at the Grafton following recommendations from other reviewers. Although everything was OK it was a bit disappointing after the glowing reviews of others. The hotel is clean and efficient enough but the room and its furnishings were rather tired and old fashioned unless you like 70s chintz. Breakfast was good but they only serve until 9:00a.m. which is rather ealry for a week-end. Overall, decent value for money but nothing special.
