Stayed at April House for 3 days last weekend. First let me say that this is not a hotel - it is in fact a very good B&B, probably the best I have stayed in. We had the room with the big bay window which has a super kingsize bed (very comfortable). The en-suite includes a shower (small but perfectly adequate unless you are very, very big), toilet and washbasin. There is a TV in the room along with tea and coffee making facilities and mineral water.The room was nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was served from 7.30 to 9.00 and not to be missed! There was fresh fruit, a range of cereals to choose from and full English to follow! My partner, not being the glutton I am, chose something a little less fattening - an omelette one day, poached eggs another and we both had kippers on the last morning (available if requested the day before). I have to say that the breakfasts are superb.
April House is conveniently situated in a very quiet street yet only a short walk from the town centre. Harrogate has an astonishing number and variety of restaurants. I would recommend Sasso's for lovers of Italian food - excellent but book early because it is very popular.
My partner and I enjoyed a wonderful stay in Harrogate and plan to return in the summer so we can explore the surrounding countryside.

what a lovely guest house-staying with david and ruth is a superb experience, and we will definately return on our next visit to harrogate.

we stayed in bedroom4 and the bed is the most comfortable i have ever slept in.

breakfast was terrific with a full english on offer, yoghurts, good choice of cereals, fruit and lashings of tea and toast.

plenty of parking space available outside and it is ideally situated 5 minutes walk from the conference centre and the shops.

I stayed here last Saturday night on a weekend Xmas break with my husband and our friends. We go away together quite often but it was our first visit to Harrogate - and our first time in a B & B rather than a big hotel chain - more about that later.

The check in was fine and we were issued with a parking permit so were able to park the car in the street directly in front of the hotel. Our room was a lovely corner room with nice high ceilings and sash windows. The bathroom was on the small side and my husband struggled a bit in the shower cubicle as he is a 6'2" big bloke. The bed was huge and the room had everything that is important to us: spotlessly clean, nice fluffy towels, tissues, tea and coffee making facilities, bottled water, 2 heaters, hairdryer etc.

It is about a 5-10 minute walk into the town centre and I must say we have never seen so many different restaurants down one street. You really are spoilt for choice in Harrogate.

The thing we found hard to get used to was that the owners came into the room while we were out and did things like turn the heater off and shut the curtains. We found this a bit odd but it might be the norm in B & B as we are used to the big hotel chains and must confess we do things like leave the tv on etc when we go out. I also found the having to be quiet when coming in on a night different but on the whole I would say I liked it better than the last few chain hotels we have been to.

The breakfast was lovely and David found a specific yoghurt for my faddy friend!

All in all I would say all four of us thouroughly enjoyed our weekend and would definately stay here again.

I spend a tremendous amount of time traveling and have stayed in numerous four and five star hotels. For atmosphere and hospitality, the April House is on the top of my list. The room was very comfortable and cozy. The price was fair, the relaxed atmosphere great, and breakfast was delicious every single day! I will stay again any time I am in the Harrogate area.
