Stayed last weekend. We were in Harrogate to attend a wedding nearby, but couldn't check in until 2 despite calling a month in advance to try and arrange something, we were told flat out "there is no way that would be possible."Helpful as the wedding started at 2!!!
Once we did check in the quoted double room was actually a twin room with the 2 single beds pushed together and a double sheet placed over the beds to keep them together, one of which was soft and the other firm so i spent the whole night feeling like i was falling off the edge of the bed! Not only that but the room was boiling all night and so we had to have the windows open.
We had two bedside tables squeezed next to the beds, a chest of draws and wardrobe all in old chipped pine. A kettle and cups etc were provided but the only plugs available were interestingly at the head of the bed behind the pillows!
Breakfast was o.k, my partner had full english, I had the kippers both were slightly better than you would expect in a hotel, plus there was a good range of cereals, fruit and cold meats, along with fruit juice.
Booked online and assumed we had paid when we booked, however this was not the case so paid the £70 before leaving. We weren't asked how our stay was or even really acknowledged when we left, which we both found a little rude.
This hotel looks excellent from the outside in the brochures and even in the reception areas, however my girlfriend compared it to "having a nice shiny red apple only to bite into it and find its rotten underneath"
Friends of ours stayed at the nearby swan hotel and couldn't sing its praises enough we now wish we had joined them!!
The only bonus was that some one had left a pound in the token machine so got to escape for half price!!!!
